Anyone still plotting chia coin here? I want to know if the Samsung 980 pro is good for plotting chia or not I'm trying to help a friend out with this build or i could just use normal drive for plotting?

Mining is an activity related to the return on investment (ROI[1]) over the long term, meaning that you will look for times when the currency is not profitable and you expect that it will rise in the future, which will turn your profits from $20 a month to $2000.

Currently, mining is not profitable. For example, if you have a 10 terabytes, the value of the coins collected from a 10 terabyte plotting will be within a dollar per day, which is a very small profit and may take a long time to pay the expenses.

All profit will be increased in value, which is not guaranteed and a high risk.

Plotting kills NVME faster than any thing and it's also the fastest for plotting, now chia isn't worth mining unless you can get the SSD for a very cheap price which is not possible and also difficulty is very high now, best way to go around this is using old parts I mean used parts
This is not true, NVME disks have a great resource for plotting.Watch this video through a translator.

At the current prices of the coin, it is not profitable to do this, unless you believe in a rise in prices in the future.

Is chia mining worth it at all? That's what I want to know 😂 the major problem with chia is the plotting part that requires high end components like CPU with higher cores and thread and also faster hard drive, these costs much and the reward is low compare to GPU mining
It was lucrative and looked promising at the beginning but not anymore. Compare it to a scenario where gold is discovered in an area. The first people to mine there make a kill, but then a gold rush happens and everyone wants to mine that gold. Big corps come in, and it's game over for the retail miners.

It isnt. The CPU and drives are not the problem (at the beginning). The amount of storage is.
Think about buying every week 1 new HDD for the plots....
I did this for 1 week and did my calculation. Even with 10 times the price of now
this is no plan to get money. Only chance was at beginning and if you had lots of drives
rdy without investing money.

No, its not. The Pro has a low TBW of 1.5 TB.

Good one would be:

If you use a regular hard drive for plotting, this process will take you a very long time. You also need a good processor and motherboard to run plotting in multiple threads to speed up the mining process.
