BURST has many years and it survives so it is good to see BURST now has a colleague for hard drive mining, CHIA $XCH.

I would like to choose BURST, not CHIA. My choice is not because technical aspect but I think CHIA is risky and BURST can take advantage of a hype on CHIA to recovery from its bottom.

I consider BURST as Ethereum Classic that had good growth by taking advantage of Ethereum upgrade.

BURST is a tried and tested blockchain network with years of experience. Chia, on the other hand, is relatively new to the crypto space (which brings a high level of risk to its holders). We could say that going all in Chia is like going through "uncharted waters". Somehow, Chia has obtained a higher price per coin than BURST itself. This could be related to aggressive marketing/promotion efforts by the Chia team. BURST folks better do the right thing for the project could go all the way down the drain. Something innovative that would "blow" the entire crypto/Blockchain space, could help attract investors into BURST.

Ultimately, what matters is mainstream adoption for a cryptocurrency project to survive. Adoption for BURST has been quite low, but it's still "kicking" after all these years. Both Chia and BURST have hard drive mining capabilities, which bring a high level of accessibility to people in the mainstream world. It's much easier to mine coins with a HDD than an ASIC or GPU. Time will tell us whenever the new consensus algorithm (Proof of Capacity) will become a success or a failed experiment. Just my thoughts Grin

Which coin do you think is best? Chia or Burst? Do you think both coins will last a lifetime?

Burst was once accepted and adopted by bitsler but I cannot it anymore on their website. I think the newest one is better than the older one. There's more support to chia than burst. I've planned to take my side on the PoC coins and I think Chia is one of the best of them all. It is quite new yet there are many exchanges that are supporting it already and what's more if Binance accepts it too.

let's say that burst has never taken off as an altcoin in many years of existence its maximum value was 12 cents of a dollar and now they are also changing the way to mine it is no longer a pure pow on hard disk but you must have already some burst altcoin in your possesion in order to mine then it has become a mixture of pow + staking (pos), so i definitely prefer chia that has entered the market with a high value of about 1600 $, currently it has dropped a lot, settling on a value of 315 $ but it remains a altcoin convenient to mine if you have a lot of hard disk space, the only risk is to burn the ssd during plotting, we have to be careful

With the failure with burst, they are changing their name to Signum. Chia has been popular from the start disrupting HDD and SDD supply but both of these project are moving towards similar market trend of smart contracts, dapps and defi. They could still be used for trading as prices goes up and down on every announcement but I don't believe we have space for so much of utility tokens fighting for the same market.

BURST hasn't been much of a success. This is probably because the project lacks marketing/promotion. We're going to have to see what happens with the project after it changes its name to a new one. Developers must focus on providing innovation to the project or it could go all the way down the drain as its competitors gain traction. With Chia on the scene, I'd be hard to imagine BURST going towards new ATHs. Demand for the cryptocurrency is still low these days, as people are mainly focused on "De-Fi" and NFTs.

What I like about both projects is the ability to mine coins using your spare hard drive space. That's a winner in my book, considering that hard drives are widely accessible. But this comes at a risk of increased centralization as large data centers will be able to gain a huge advantage on the network. The average person will be left out of the system, making big companies like Google and Amazon the leading force on the Blockchain. At least, the idea is there. Making it a success is another story. Just my thoughts Grin

It's an exciting time in crypto land as people can mine crypto at home using their spare hard drive space. BURST has been the pioneer of the PoC (Proof of Capacity) consensus algorithm, taking the crypto world by storm. We now have Chia which is similar to BURST with HDD mining capabilities, but it differs in the way it's designed. I've tried mining BURST some time ago, but it's extremely unprofitable these days. Chia is the new kid on the block, with bigger rewards than BURST itself. But if hashrate goes all the way to the moon, then it wouldn't be feasible to mine Chia at home. Only large data centers will be able to turn a profit.

Comparing both coins, I'd say that Chia is far superior than BURST. The latter mimics the NXT and ARDOR blockchains in every way, with little to no innovation. With Chia, that's another story. Right now, 1 XCH (Chia) is worth $289, while BURST is worth only 2 cents ($0.02). If BURST lacks demand, it could go down the drain faster than you could've ever imagined.

Which coin do you think is best? Chia or Burst? Do you think both coins will last a lifetime? Is mining with a hard drive a good or bad idea? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
