This is certainly the the story of the day. Let me quote the most important part for you (many of the readers might've missed it):
found that around 1,600 files were currently stored in bitcoin’s blockchain. Of the files least eight were of sexual content, including one thought to be an image of child abuse .

So, eight images of sexual content and 1 THOUGHT TO BE child abuse. So, since sexual content isn't banned, all they managed to find is a single image that they thought might be child abuse! So much hard work, so many hours of searching through the images, just to find a single one that might be child abuse, but they aren't even sure! Cheesy
And the opening line screams at us Child abuse imagery found within bitcoin's blockchain, but read a bit and you come to the part where they admit they found a single file that MIGHT BE child abuse. That's just shitty journalism at its finest.
Shitty journalism leads to wild speculation and misinformation, this hurts us definitely unless it is calmly and strongly addressed or totally ignored. We have to remember even those who are in charge of our laws and legislation get caught up in winds of journalism and fall prey to pushing measures in reply to silly sensationalism.

There are many such incidents. We cannot avoid that they will happen in the future. If bitcoin is legalized, then the probability of such incidents will be greatly reduced.

I hate those pedophiles and illegal elements. They only discredit bitcoin, and it is not conducive to the legalization of bitcoin.

unfortunately things like this will continue to happen because a while ago we added the option to add arbitrary data to the blockchain with OP_Retrun and there is always someone who will ruin it for everyone else by abusing a perfectly good feature. there are virus signatures embedded there too, it is just a hex but it looks weird to some antiviruses!

It is precisely these links to Bitcoin and those illegal activities that have caused the government and the world to have a bad impression of Bitcoin. These people sacrifice their lives and interests for their own interests and bad hobbies. They are trying to destroy Bitcoin.

This should be solved. Bitcoin is still in its development stage. Such loopholes cannot be found. This is forbidden. Each investor hopes that the Bitcoin Forum will be a clean investment channel.

Hey Folks

Anyone seen this article?

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/mar/20/child-abuse-imagery-bitcoin-blockchain-illegal-content

Seems like they are trying desperate measures to create more FUD.

OR

Maybe that's the explanation they are going to try and use to try make owning Bitcoin illegal.....

I call BS..

Utilizing new technology and solutions such as digital identity based on blockchain technology, it is possible to find relevant data information through permanently irreconcilable categorization bills, and there are more opportunities to arrest traffickers to rescue trafficked children and thus enable human trafficking crimes. Behavior can be effectively traced and prevented.

If the States did not intervene in the cryptocurrencies, perhaps we were all millionaire. I think the reasons they bring are too absurd, because, there was also the cost of terrorism untill Bitcoin and maybe they don't it with Bitcoin.

I don't have much knowledge on this subject. And i don't understand how the transactions can record this kind of data. But I can see this in a positive way. Blockchain is forever. Maybe we can find the perpetrators somehow, I don't know if that's possible. But at least they cannot erase their actions.

Who gives a shit, there are sick pedophile’s all over the world. Why penalise bitcoin if there's some creepy shit stored on the blockchain? This is just lazy, shitty journalism designed to bring more FUD.

There are senior government officials being sick pedophile’s all over the world, let’s point the finger at them.

It is really annoying that the blockchain is involved in such events, but we all know that illegal groups use blockchain. It is normal for such news to appear. Decentralization brings with some problems as well.

It's annoying for people constantly getting bothered by these things. It has been known for years that different forms of data can be stored on the blockchain, and occasionally you'll see these kind of articles pop up. Nothing in the world will come close to how much horrible and disgusting data is being stored on servers being maintained by the world's largest datacenters. If the FBI would skim through all these servers, they would probably need years and years to analyze even a small percentage of that content. Bitcoin will always be subject to this nonsense, people just need to get over it. The less attention is being spent on these articles, the less potential damage it will inflict.

Doing bussiness or teaching the children about cryptocurrency is not abusing there right of being a human,as what the article  said, because i thinks theybwant to criticize the blockchain,so that it will been probihited, maybe there something fishy about this kind of feed news, maybe in there own understanding that when we teach to our children and  to understand them, how great the cryptocurrency for there better future,we outweigh the right of the child to free  them to play and express there own self, and not to be dictated,as what there thought, thats why this article will doing below the belt about bitcoin.

It's actually true that some trolls put content on the blockchain just because they can and think it's funny. Some information is illegal in some countries and it can potentially become a real issue that the blockchain contains this data. Here's an article explaining how images are stored on the blockchain: http://www.righto.com/2014/02/ascii-bernanke-wikileaks-photographs.html
