Or maybe something more cute? I had a friend who's dad bought him a basic car when he was born. When he passed his test the car was worth a few thousand. He crashed it.
Hmm... Buy a painting? Something like a painting is less money orientated but still can go the investment purpose, what do you think? Any other ideas? Security is something to think about, small enough to get in a safe deposit box might be a good idea...
