If the US wants to do a hard fork, it should change the PoW to GPU friendly algorithm as well. They can use the Ethereum algorithm.

No. It won't happen. I believe China will take over the mining industry in complete. So I don't know where you get your information from.

Why would the US do a hard fork, do you mean in order to force the Chinese to adopt their chain?

no sense, they have the monopoly, and you're saying that they will destroy it? maybe you mean their government? it could be at some point but it must looks like an incident, government is not mafia, that go ahead and kill people and destroy stuff at will
