[/quote]This is criminal act and I think it deal with individual but some people will should relate to the fraud in cryptocurrencies.  This type of people can hack and manipulate coins to there favour if he has the means.
Those that got blessings and make it big in minining treat it as a business and not in the way he has done.  Why putting the cost of electricity which is the major cost on the school that still pay you for your job?  This is really wickedness and I think he should be punish as criminals.
should have hide it in a closet at the back of janitor room or something
Are you supporting what he has done?  I believe what he did is evil and stealing as the school did not support that.

This director should have understood that his secret mining at public expense will sooner or later become known to other people who will report it to the competent authorities. Probably, he considered himself as the most intelligent man, and it caused envy in other people.

He thought nobody would know, but he was overdoing the amount of hardware. Appetite rises as you eat. 1 or 2 mining rigs probably no one would notice, but for a power consumption of £ 1,600 you must have a good collection of rigs.

Greed is the root of all evil they say and this one here is a crystal clear example of such thing. I think only two mining rigs would be enough to make decent amount of ethereum or whatever other coin and this would be only 120 Gbp as a maximum which could have gone on for years without anyone knowing.

I personally would never do such thing and I have the possibility to do it since I have full control of the super cool server room in the company where I work for as the IT of the company. I don't think it is fair and in fact I think it is wrong so the director being fired is the right punishment.

"A Chinese headmaster has been fired after a secret stack of crypto-currency mining machines was found connected to his school's electricity supply.

Teachers at the school in Hunan became suspicious of a whirring noise that continued day and night, local media report.

This led to the discovery of the machines, which were mining the crypto-currency Ethereum.

They racked up an electricity bill of 14,700 yuan (£1,600).

The excessive electricity consumption had previously been reported to the headmaster, Lei Hua, but he reportedly dismissed it as being caused by air conditioners and heating devices.

A local authority responsible for "discipline inspection" has claimed the money that was made through the mining activities."

I think "discipline inspector" is a budding line of work.  Grin
