Sure. WW3 will be about a small uninhabited island. With no notable resources and no tactical importance.

On the other Hand. Wars have been fought for even more stupid reasons.

No, no tactical importance except the whole of the 3rd Marine Division is still there lol. Don't know if you guys keep up with BRAC and things like that, but the U.S. is shifting its forces to the Asian theater. In fact the U.S. just opened a base in Australia, and is expanding operations in the area. Don't forget the 2 MEU's that generally float in the area. We have a strong interest in that rock called "japan" for the reason china does, its close to them. If anything was to ever go wrong between the U.S. and China the launch point would be from Japan, the U.S. likes to keep those kind of things know so it keeps other countries in "Check".

Let's talk governance, lipstick, and pigs.
Let China be the world police force. America has done enough.

There has only been one way humans have ever resolved disputes.

Violence or the threat of violence.

Always been that way and always will be that way.

Right and wrong are irrelevent, often religion-based opinions.

The winners make the rules and write the history books, while the losers hope to negotiate a settlement that keeps them wealthy and in power for as long as possible.

Actually I was sailing on a research vessel in the South China Sea this May. We had to stay away from some small rock protruding from the ocean, because the Chinese and Vietnamese navies were doing "exercises" around it, trying to claim it for themselves. Didn't look too serious though, just normal politics.

When you said this:

I was thinking this:
On the other Hand. Wars have been fought for even more stupid reasons.

If this escalates, I am imagining American troops on Chinese soil very soon. Japan has very little military force after all.

This could be the start of many excuses to challenge the clout of China.
