Does anyone know whether it is possible to connect a fan from ATI 5970 directly to the power supply, by-passing the card? What voltage does it take (max)?

Probalby.. I also put some 80m fans on the backside of the card and that helped a LOT.

To me, it seems like your entire case could use a bit of an overhaul and some improved cooling.

Thanks!

I'll give it a shot.

Try to take manual control of your chipset fan in catalyst. Push it to 100% and see if that makes a difference.

underclock your gpu's memory speed to its lowest to shave a few degrees off. as far as cpu temp goes I would get an aftermarket cooler.

Hi Everyone,

Anybody else had a problem with a hot mobo chipset? I'm regularly getting shutdowns at chipset temps of +90C and I have to run the machine with the sides off and a house fan blowing directly on the mobo to maintain chipset temp of about 60C

GPU temp with housefan is easily 83C to 85C.

CPU temp with housefan  is 70C to +80C when running bitcoin 3.19 on generate coins.

I'm running:

142000 khash/sec
poclbm.exe
windows 7

mobo: DFI inc Lanparty DK790GX with stock chipset heatpipe.
cpu: AMD Phenom II X4 955
RAM: 8gb Gskill
GPU: Radeon HD 5770 (single card)
hdd: WDC Green 1TB
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 650W

Any ideas on how to get this temp numbers down away from 90C? Do you use aftermarket chipset coolers? Any of them good?

Please help!

Cheers!
