What does communism have to do with religion?
Communism is more like a cult than a religion, indeed.

Whether called religion or cult, there certainly seems to be a latent tendency towards religious-type belief in humans. Not that it unfolds in every individual, of course.

I remember reading, about 40 years ago, about a sect that had sprung up in the south of Russia, claiming that Lenin was immortal. But as unedited info from out of the Soviet Union was not all that lively at the time, I never found any follow-up or details.

The simple proof it is a cult is to go visit this dude

That's going to have amazing ramifications for China's foreign policy in the next decade or two
Can't wait to see how it all plays out

Can't wait for that official visit from a pope in China a few years from now...

WTF?  You're accusing me of condoning murder?  And you think I'm borat or something?  I think I totally lost you dude.

My point was that you seemed to be suggesting that communists are the only ones known for perpetrating murder---you referred to a history lesson that I was supposed to learn, remember?  I think it's quite relevant to point out, in that context, the much longer history of christian-inspired murder.  Shit, almost the entire poplations of north and south america were wiped out in the name of "god and country" where christianity was the relevant god.  That's in addition to the centuries of intra-european and near-east murder you referred to.

Peace be with you man.  Isn't that how they say goodbye in church?

I would not know. I never go to church  Cheesy

And. Relax. This is the internet.

For all the evil we see attributed to religion there is so much good that comes from it.  the community involvement and energy can move mountains.  Unfortunately, evil still seems to be an unavoidable bitter counterbalance of the sweet side of life.  I look forward to the day when it truly won't matter about religion and we can all join hands and frolic in the wood.

Right, it does seem like a stupid comparison: an ecomonic theory <-> a mystical religion.  Nevertheless, OP is correct that official communist party of china subscribes to atheism.
The fact that makes it salient instead of stupid is that communist governments have traditionally made sport of persecuting and murdering Christians.

Sure, but christians have traditionally made sport of persecuting and murdering non-christians so it seems like a wash to me.  Avoid all religion---specially the murderous ones.  Anyway, I was trying to address the post above me which seemed to be pointing out that there are indeed communist christians.  I wonder who they murder?

A communist christian? What's that?

As far as communists killing people because of their belief, just google it. If you don't I'll be glad to update you with historical facts.

You can learn about christians killing people because of their beliefs using the same strategy.  However, I don't match your offer to teach you history.  If you're not aware of the genocide perpetrated by christians in the name of their religion for the last 15 or so centuries then I'm not going to go out of my way to educate you.

It is funny how some of you would kiss the feet of tyranny if it meant to get rid of all the people you do not share your belief with, as long as it is done away from your eyes, guilt free. A sign you have a long way to understand what a true bitcoin world could be...

This is vague, who are you accusing here?  The christians?  The communists?  Both?  Bitcoiners?  All of the above?

You've forgotten one more category: people like yourself who always look back to apologies for what is going on right now  Smiley Wink

Hey! This tyranny can crush those Christians now because non Chinese, 100% European Christians did the same to each other for the past 15 centuries. LOLz!*

Most of the Chinese are either atheist or non-religious. So other religions are rapidly filling in the vacuum.

This would be an extra big deal if in North Korea the party loyalists were outnumbered by Christians in such a manner. However, it's not like that would lead to change considering that more prison camps would be built to deal with the number of people or public executions to dampen the tone a bit.

That's a heinous, hateful, unfounded accusation.  Christians have a word for murders--sinners.  If a Christian murders someone, other Christians don't defend it or cover it up, we mourn.

Avoiding religion while you live is your right.  But it won't be possible to avoid the Lord at judgement.

Though the Chinese Communist Party is the largest explicitly atheist organization in the world, with 85 million official members, it is now overshadowed by an estimated 100 million Christians in China. It is no wonder Beijing is nervous and authorities are cracking down on Christian groups.

The interesting thing about this is that God doesn't care who it is that worships Him. If the U.S. is truly falling into atheism, then God will make it a weaker nation. If China is truly converting to Christianity, then God will make it the stronger nation.

There is only one nation that God might make superior to all other nations if it converts to Christianity. That is the nation of Israel. Expect this to happen some time. After all, Israel was the original "God" nation.

Though the Chinese Communist Party is the largest explicitly atheist organization in the world, with 85 million official members, it is now overshadowed by an estimated 100 million Christians in China. It is no wonder Beijing is nervous and authorities are cracking down on Christian groups.

Christianity is growing so fast in China that some predict that it will be the most Christian nation in the world in only another 15 years. By far, the greatest growth is coming outside the official state-sanctioned churches, which are rightly considered subservient to the Communist Party. Numbers are increasing, rather, in unofficial Protestant “house churches” and in the underground Catholic church.

“By my calculations China is destined to become the largest Christian country in the world very soon,” said Fenggang Yang, a professor of sociology at Purdue University and author of Religion in China: Survival and Revival under Communist Rule.
