If I am going to Create a Post and then someone gave merit and then I deleted the Post because I already have the answer that I am Looking for.. will the Merit be removed as well or will I still have it Regardless if the Post is Removed? Thanks for the Answer Awesome Human being!!!!
Once a post is merited and a profile is merited, that merit will not be removed in any way. even if you delete the post yourself or a moderator deletes your post, the merit will remain on your profile. but if someone abuse the merit then in that case he can get a natural or red tag and there will be no other problem. but an admin has the power to edit someone's account and has the ability to remove merit from a profile. but such a thing has never been seen done by the admin, nor have I seen it, and I do not think he will do it

Oh that's sounds nice. i haven't heard about this that someone merit can be reverted also.
Cases got reverted of received merit are very rarely seen and it is long time in the past. Those merit transactions come from a merit source (or more than one merit source, I am not sure) used their sourced merit not correctly and caused complains in community.

QuestionAuthority and maybe one more merit source.

I think very few unlucky users have lost merit after achieved.
By that reason, those merit receivers got those merit from the air, from not good quality posts so it makes sense to revert those transactions. I am not consider it as unlucky experience.

No mate, your merits would not be deleted but rather your activity would drop and once there is any drop in activities too it also affects your rank because you will have to acrue some certain numbers of activities to qualify you for the next rank irrespective of the fact that you have enough merits.
Nevertheless, deleting that post of yours is not the best option though just as Yahoo62278 has said, that there would be some one in the future maybe a new be who would want to ask similar questions but for the fact that that question exist, they would see the response from members and possibly knowing what to do based on the response gotten.

Op you won't loss the merit (s) but only the thread will be lost. Other people have already given you some good answers to go about the merit system and also to go about it. I can see it from here
Yes, as Little Mouse said, you won't lose your merit or smerit.

Can I be demerited or lose merit?

No, not currently. Even if your post is removed the merit will still stay.

Why do you need to delete the post? Maybe someone else will have the same questions you might have a month from now and use the search function to find the answer and find your topic. I would suggest just locking the thread vs deleting it.
Some users do it to remove track especially if they start to realize that the merit transactions on the post are not really worth it. I think some abuse of the system will do it, it has happened in the past.

I remember in the past I found a few cases of that, but this isn't the time to mention them anymore.

Merit (your earned merit) stays forever. It won't be decayed or reverted if you don't abuse it seriously. In history of merit system, theymos - a head admin - only did merit revert a few times when a merit source abused his sourced merit.

You can delete your posts if those posts are replies in a thread. However, you can not delete your opening post in a thread. Only admin and moderator can trash a whole thread.

Yes opening post cannot be deleted but what will you say if someone move topic to archive and lock thread because sometimes we need Thread no more for any specific reason. I think in this this thread will be add to recycle bin and then admin will delete it.

If I am going to Create a Post and then someone gave merit and then I deleted the Post because I already have the answer that I am Looking for

Why do you have to delete the post in the first instance, dont you know that anyone can also come across such and read to learn from it, also what makes you think you will earn a merit on the post you made, even afterall it may end up being deleted by you or a moderator.

will the Merit be removed as well or will I still have it Regardless if the Post is Removed?

The merit remains, but getting merit o this forum is not determined by you, rather it is by the person reading what you're saying and feels it worth deserving a merit, if that post is being deleted and was the only one that helps you maintain the activity required for the rank you are, then you will be demoted except you have enough posts to cover up for your activity for that rank while your merit still remains provided that you get any.

The merit will remain because you have be merited before the post was deleted, but don't forget that people will not merit a Post that is not a quality Post or relate to the topic that involve the Post at the moment. Don't come with a mind set that people will merit a Post that will be deleted at the end of the day, so try your possible best to avoid such attitude by involving in quality Post through out your journey.

Whenever someone gives merit to any user he has to determine the number of smerits he is willing to hand out and at the bottom you will find the line which says : This cannot be undone which means it can't be reversed.

So if you delete a post or it gets deleted by the moderator also the merits you get on that one remains exactly the same so you don't need to worry about it but make good post so you don't have to delete them.

If you are starting a new thread then you can't delete the stating post, you can edit it. Subsequent posts can be deleted after 24 hours or on some forums immediately.
The service board also has this restriction that you can't delete a post before 24 hours so you simply edit it and can delete later on but on general boards you can delete your posts without this restriction.

I just want to add to what Little Mouse has said, is that the only thing that will change when a merited post/thread is deleted, is the link to the deleted post or thread. if you check your merit summary, the link to the merited post or thread will be shown as "ignored/deleted"(or something similar to that)
