You can open link in a new tab with middle click mouse button. If you are on phone, it's also not hard to open link in a new tab - just keep your finger on link and then you will see "open in a new tab" among the other options.

When I asked about this long ago I have been told that this change was because of a vulnerability (or something like that)

I think that's how it originally was but theymos changed it (unless I've misunderstood you). I've suggested when you click a link you're first taken to a landing page which urges you to double check the url and warns you you're going off site. This will stop a lot of phishing attempts. People can sometimes click on them by accident and at least this would prevent that.

Hi dev team,

I want to suggest something. If you think it's better than can implement this. Currently if some one clicks a link posted in a thread takes you out of the forum to the external link.  You will need to open the forum again or click back button to come to forum.

But I think it should actually open in a new page/tab . The viewer should still be on the same thread within the forum. This is the case for most of the top websites such as Gmail, facebook etc.

Thanks
