I am looking for a short & sweet explanation, installation, Use & backup instructions I can link to for my customers who do not know what Bitcoin is. I am offering a 10 percent discount for my Bitcoin customers. PayPal charges close to 10 percent for international transactions. I've googled till my face is blue but everything online is too wordy, too complex, & the explanations are too nerdy for the general public. Remember, they let kids use calculators for sat tests now, so for 95 percent of the population, they see a big word like crypto currency and their brains just shut down. Thanks in advance for the link  Smiley

Here, this video might help give you some ideas.  I find that it is easier to explain things in terms that people can understand by comparing to something they already know.    This video explains Bitcoin and the technology behind it pretty well.  http://spectrum.ieee.org/video/computing/networks/video-the-bitcoin-blockchain-explained

Pretty good explanation, but what i see is your explanation for Bitcoin advantages is too long to explain about the security, you need add how fast the transaction than other payment processor and other advantages of bitcoin.
For you reference: https://99bitcoins.com/the-future-of-money-bitcoinized/
And this is tutorial how to use Mycelium.

to OP, maybe you can try to make an infographic about bitcoin with your own explanation.

Yup. I wrote my own 3 paragraph explanation of bitcoin for customers. It has no explanation of what bitcoin mining is nor anything else about bitcoins that a customer doesn't need to know.

Bitcoin.org or any other website I know of for that matter is way too wordy. Just their definition of bitcoin took 4 sentences! My definition of bitcoin is "Bitcoin is new and improved money for the 21st century."

The infographic doesn't explain enough. For example, it doesn't explain how to get bitcoins so that they could pay me in bitcoins nor does it explain how to install a bitcoin wallet and use it.

I just made a short webpage that explains what bitcoin is, its advantages and disadvantages, how to install and use a wallet (mycleium for android and hive for iOS), and how to get bitcoins (Coinbase). The following explanation of bitcoin is oversimplified for ease of understanding to the point of being slightly wrong. However, it is correct enough to allow newbies to gain a working knowledge of bitcoins and allow them to use them and spend them.

What is Bitcoin?
Bitcoin is new and improved money for the 21st century.

Bitcoin Advantages & Disadvantages Over Conventional Money Handling Methods
AdvantagesDisadvantages
It_is_nearly_impossible_to_rob_bitcoin_savings_at_gunpoint.
Just send your savings to another bitcoin wallet that you do not have with you.
If you forget your 12 word passphrase,
you'll lose all your bitcoins forever.
Always secure multiple copies of your 12 word passphrase.
You access your bitcoins with a digital wallet, usually on a computer or smart phone. If your smart phone is stolen, the wallet is password protected and you can even remotely wipe your smart phone just to be completely safe.
Checks and travellers checks can be forged. Bitcoins are encrypted so that they cannot be forged.
Every time you use your credit card, you give out your credit card number. Anybody who has your credit card number can place fraudulent charges with your credit card. You do not give out your bitcoin passphrase when you spend bitcoins.
Banks can go belly up. Bitcoin is stored on thousands of servers on the cloud. You control your bitcoins because only you possess the passphrase for your bitcoins. As long as you do not give out your passphrase or send your bitcoins to someone else, you will never lose your bitcoins. It is mathematically impossible to hack into a 12 word passphrase and steal your bitcoins. If you lose your smart phone, you can regain control of your bitcoins with another smart phone using your bitcoin passphrase.
Banks charge outrageous fees. Bitcoin only charges one to two cents per transaction.

How to Use Bitcoin
  • Download and install a bitcoin wallet app. For iOS, I recommend HIVE and for Android, I recommend Mycelium.
  • For Hive, be sure to secure your 4 digit pin an d12 word passphrase. For Mycelium, be sure to follow the app's instructions to back up your wallet.
  • Buy some bitcoins with Coinbase: https://www.coinbase.com/.
  • Watch this video: https://youtu.be/G8FmwbgJuLM.
  • Enjoy spending money the 21st century way!

If you want to educate your customers about bitcoin, this links is easy to understanding:
https://bitcoin.org/en/faq
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ

Bitcoin.org is definitely too wordy
From their "What is Bitcoin?"

-snip-

On-topic, what I'd say is look out for infographics. I googled "What is Bitcoin infographic" under "Images" and found lots of results.
This seems pretty good: https://s3.amazonaws.com/promotionalcodes.ae/what-is-bitcoin.jpg despite being old (has listed price of BTC at 6$) but might not be suitable for you as it advertises other things and might be too outdated.

Good luck

Nice infographic, but they source come from bitcoin.org and bitcoin wiki and shortened the point by them. Although it's explain to the point, nice old stuff.

Quote
Bitcoin is a consensus network that enables a new payment system and a completely digital money. It is the first decentralized peer-to-peer payment network that is powered by its users with no central authority or middlemen. From a user perspective, Bitcoin is pretty much like cash for the Internet. Bitcoin can also be seen as the most prominent triple entry bookkeeping system in existence.
