Yeah well, history should also have taught us that assuming that mentally unstable people will always act in a sane manner can have disastrous consequences. For example most sane people probably hoped and believed against all hope to the last day that nutcases Bush and Blair wouldn´t be crazy enough to invade Iraq.

Both the Democrats, as well as the Republicans have their own anti-war and pro-war factions. The anti-war faction in the Democrat party is dominated by Barack Obama. The pro-war camp includes Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Similarly, in the republican party, Marco Rubio, John McCain.etc are the warmongers, while Rand Paul, Donald Trump.etc are pacifist.
