do people have to use phone when registering or its optional?
No cellular is NOT mandatory at all, it's just an option for those wanting to be notified via text when the PRO Pick is released.
But email address works just as well, and you receive the same identical notifications with text or email. It's sent through AWS SNS Function when the pick video is up for viewing.
