I got it to sync up but now my balance is showing zero.  I think it was around 50 coins, does anyone know?

It is brain seed not paper seed.
Which wallet software were you using? Huh Most wallets do not allow you to use "non BIP39" words... which is what a number of the words you've listed in your "brain seed" are.

When you say it is synced up... is it actually showing transaction history and just has a zero balance (all coins sent out)... or is it just showing a completely "blank" wallet with no transactions?

Also, for future reference... there is no such thing as a "public seed"... your seed is the most critical piece of data for securing your coins... it should remain 100% confidential and secret at all times! Shocked

I think he got it confused between a public / private key pair that's used to generate some wallets. But still, that is no reason for him to foolishly expose his word sequence online. No newbie is that dumb.

As you posted it online, someone already stole your funds.

When you are creating a new wallet, with a good software, it will use bip39 standard, so not all words are valid. I suggest you use a wallet such as Electrum and save your seed in a pice of paper, never writing it in a computer again (unless you need to recover it). When you put your seed in your computer, it becomes "hackable". Not hacker can hack a pice of paper.

What you just did was like posting the back and front side of your credit card. If that seed is genuine (unlikely) consider your Bitcoins lost.
You should remove that and in the future never post your seed or private keys anywhere!

From your explanation it looks like you are using Electrum.
From where did you download your wallet?
Which version do you use?
Have you verified the signature?

Try to change the servers manually in Electrum because there is a DDOS attack on Elelctrum going on.

I put in my seed for the new wallt on my laptop:  it reads as lamp, angel,  forest, electric,  stable, palace, amaze, gather, boulder, metallic, rubber, relieve

Whe ni put in the public seeds the wallet doesn't even sychronize it just sits there without the green dot like how it used to be in the corner?  I'm not sure if my system is too old or its needs to be updated?

If you are using Electrum and you haven't upgraded recently, you must upgrade. The current version is 3.3.4. You can download it here: https://electrum.org/#download

If that is your real seed, then you have published all of your private keys to the world. You should create a new wallet with a new seed.

1. What wallet are you using? Give us more information.
2. By showing us your recovery seed, you're pretty much giving us access to your wallet. Hope you realize that.

I suggest doing research on how bitcoin works in general first, before actually owning some bitcoin. https://coindesk.com/information

you can't use any words you like as your seed, half the words you posted here are invalid. why did you even post it? you do realize that posting your seed online is going to compromise all your funds, right?
