BFGMiner is a great application for running multiple cubes in one easy interface. However, I have found that it comes with a slight decrease in performance on cubes and Blades.
Evidence/explanation? Are you sure this isn't due to BFGMiner identifying/reporting HW errors (and slush's proxy does not do this AFAIK)?

I have personally experienced issues running multiple blades and cubes with BFGMiner. Hashrate was reporting about 5-10% slower from BFGMiner interface and blade/cube interface. Additionally, when I was running 10 blades on a single bfgminer instance, 2-3 would lose connection to the proxy and report as dead from bfgminer interface after about 10 hrs of running. I've had multiple users report the same issues, which were resolved by switching to slush's stratum proxy. Based on those results I cannot recommend BFGMiner for blade/cube operation, although I would love to see it working without issue in the future. Unfortunately, I do not have the bandwidth at this time to work with you to determine the cause.

Luke-jr, I see you are online, is 3.9 ready for the antminer U1?  I've got a bunch of those showing up this coming week.
Please re-ask this somewhere it's on topic (BFGMiner or AntMiner threads) and point me to it...

I hadn't noticed any dings with my cubes running thru a raspberry pi.  38.4gh/s solid for days using bfgminer.

How are these still selling at high prices with all the problems,  and antminer delivering 180ghs units that work as advertised... these should be maybe .55btc,   considering all the quality control issues from ASICMiner.

I suspect this is more of a shipping issue. If they were shipped disassembled I don't suspect this would happen. I suspect that it only takes a slight drop to make this happen.

Yes it's definitely a shipping issue, some of the blades are jammed pretty tight under those rails so there's no way someone assembling them could have put them in that way. I've assembled a local team of QA and technical specialists from my field to open all units, tighten heatsinks, re-align the blades and test the units at 38gh/s. All units sent from this point forward will be handled in this fashion unless deemed unnecessary. For now, I'd like to ask that all buyers still open the units to check for alignment and heatsink tightness. I'd like to know if continental shipping is creating the same results.

I suspect that even if you go though them first before shipping them out you still would end up with the cards popped out of the slots. Even shipping in the us form you to customers it only take one drop. They need a piece of antistatic foam under the mother board to support it during shipping. All my heat sinks were tight though.

Looks like my cube only likes "low" clock.  Huh

No "x"'s on low. Switch to high and within mins "x"'s begin appearing until everyone is x'ed out.

Have to hard power off to get back. Leaving on "low" overnight to see how reliable that it.

When I read of all the other issues people were having I had begun to think maybe 3 blades were better than 1 cube. Their chip is just too hot and slow for something as small as the cube. It worked for blades as you had a larger surface area to spread the heat load.

The connectors on the cards look like "nubus' connectors. as in early mac until they switched to pci bus in late 90's.

I liked nubus. You could hot plug since there was no slot alignment issues that could cause shorting during insertion or removal.

Got mine today !!!

Thanks,

I opened and removed guts to check over. While there were no loose screws in the case, all heat sink screws were loose. Some to the point of 1 thread from dropping out. The boards were also misaligned out of the grooves and the bottom MB bowed.

Peeled off that goofy fan label since others have said it flys off so thought to avoid it with pre-surgery.  Grin

Testing so low clock.. bitminter is having issues so repointing to btcguild.

Its a cloud murphy law. When trying to troubleshoot the local hardware. The cloud will decide to mess with you at the same time just to really confound everything !!

Got mine today and it is running @38 GH, Excellent Service form Crazyguy Thanks. I heeded the warning and took mine apart and found that some of the card were out of the grooves and the motherboard was bowed. All the heatsink screw were tight though. I carefully reassembled it and all is good. See pic

some definite quality control issues going on @ ASICminer.....   if you are going to repackage obsolete chips in a newer box to try and extend sales life,  you'd think they would make damn sure the stuff was put together right....

very disappointed.....

All orders up to this point have been shipped. All units reassembled and tested at 38gh/s. I will send tracking numbers this evening.

At this point I have just about depleted my stock. I will post tonight if anything turns up.

Additionally, I have about 10 units that do 32gh/s only. I'm going to work on them this weekend and determine if it's an issue with the blades or mainboard. If it's blades, I should be able to shuffle some around and make a few more 38gh/s units. Until then, if anyone is willing to purchase these units as is, I can sell them for .75 BTC shipped and insured.

I've purchased from Crazyguy in the past. Top notch dude for sure! He also saved my cubes by telling me to check those screws before I powered them on. All of the 4 screws on all of the blades were loose and 6 boards were out of the notch in one of the cubes. I'm sure that thing would have smoked if I powered it up when I got it.

I guess they dont have normal sized screw drivers in china! My Avalon's had a bunch of loose hardware too.

Thank you,

It arrived today, a whole lot faster then BFL. Tongue

There were a few loose screws bouncing around and the bottom plane board was bowed, the blades were not slotted in. So if you get one, do make sure you check before trying to turn it on.

Now I have to wait for my PSU, it's been delayed and it doesn't seem the 650 isn't good enough, keeps tripping when I turn it on. An old Antec.

This is very important. I'm building a team to reassemble the miners and tighten any screws loosened during overseas shipment for the next batch. Until then, make sure this is the first thing you do.

I don't think so. Low clock used almost 250 watts in my testing. 1 six pin wouldn't be able to handle that.

BFGMiner is a great application for running multiple cubes in one easy interface. However, I have found that it comes with a slight decrease in performance on cubes and Blades. If you are not seeing your cubes performing to their full potential, I suggest trying Slush's stratum proxy:
In your experience, how much performance hit do the cubes suffer when running through BFGMiner?  I was planning on doing things that way (groups them together with my other ASICS) but not if the performance hit is too much.

I was getting 36-37 gh/s on my cube and 10.4 - 10.6 on my blade. It's an awesome application for usb based miners and having the proxy built in is a big plus. Not worth the performance hit for me though.

I ordered 6 cubes from CrazyGuy with his last groupbuy.  His service is top-notch.  I received a bad cube (didn't turn on) and another cube with a bad mini blade.  CrazuGuy helped me with some troubleshooting tips to determine what was wrong.  He was responsive to all questions.  He offered to refund or replace the bad cube and send a replacement mini blade.

------- IMPORTANT Cube Prep ----------

It is imperative that you perform the following tasks upon receipt of your cube as some shifting has likely occurred during shipping from China.

1) Open the unit up and tighten the 4 heatsink screws on each blade. If there's a loose screw inside of the case, odds are it's missing from a heatsink. Don't ignore loose screws or throw them away!
2) Line the blades up in the upper rails of the case.

Notes:
When putting the cube back together, make sure to guide the red status led into the small hole on the fan side faceplate. If disregarded, it could possibly bend back and break off.

When tuning your cube, do not hit the browser refresh button after changing clock speed. The unit will cycle back and forth between clock speeds with each refresh of the SW_CLOCK page. Instead, use the UI's refresh button located at the bottom left of the screen.

Suggestions:

BFGMiner is a great application for running multiple cubes in one easy interface. However, I have found that it comes with a slight decrease in performance on cubes and Blades. If you are not seeing your cubes performing to their full potential, I suggest trying Slush's stratum proxy:

http://mining.bitcoin.cz/mining-proxy-howto

If you are experiencing performance loss when connecting many cubes or blades to one instance of Slush's stratum proxy, I suggest running multiple instances on separate ports.
