CME and CBOE has an impact on the market as long as people like OP are paying attention to it and reacting with their real bitcoins to some wall street scammers which don't even hold any bitcoins.
Theoretically, yes. Based on how the market has reacted till now, it's safe to say that the noobs who do take CME and CBOE serious, haven't even managed to dent the market, so in this case dumb money is not a factor.

It may change at a later point, but I doubt that unless the future volumes literally explode to levels at least 100x that of what they are currently. In other words, it just remains the gambling toy for no coiners.

Perhaps you are right and the effect is negligible, but I have a feeling the effects are not immediate. Every event like these futures made a lot of waves and surely affected how a lot of new people moved their money. It's funny to think that all these events, which aren't supposed to have an effect on Bitcoin economy, eventually do, thanks to mainstream media and finance experts pushing their agenda. Dumb money is as powerful as the connotation says, and we're partially guilty for continuing to downplay and underestimate the power of suggestion that seems to be able to move all this noob money quickly.

Maybe the title should be changed to 'CME FUTURES EXPIRATION'.

The current title is such a clickbait title.  It kinda makes us think that the futures market will actually close...  And not come back.  Lol.  Cheesy

As this is first closing of CME futures which is going to expire on 26th Jan 2018. Lets see what will happen?

At first I was very happy with the 'CME / CBOE' plan when they sounded to be supporting bitcoin at the time but it turned out it was just a fake rumor and now they have maneuvered to destroy bitcoin.

I hope this information will be useful to you :

I do think they are impacting bitcoin prices a lot. Players in CME aren't kids they do know how to manipulate value of such a volatile market quite easily may it be by giving in some fake rumors. But yes its quite possible they might break at around 10K. I don't think the price could go lower than that there is a strong support point there at $9600. Bitcoin market isn't only affected by CME acts and incidents.

What you've said few months ago is happening now as it breaks $10k and have a bottom of $9400. What CME does to bitcoin price to surge last year is really insane and now CME also is the one who's responsible now for bitcoin to go back maybe to its original price. Yeah this really bothered many and now dumping their bitcoin which just making the situation worst.

Though, even with all of these uncertainty I still believe that we can close the year by at least $40k.

That is the whole scam scheme of futures, to get some numbers out, then trigger the people that actually hold the bitcoins to follow their futures. It's once again a self fulfilling prophecy. Blame the idiots that sell depending on what they see on the futures market if they are of any accuracy of what happens next.

Anyway, time to buy this dip.

I like, and believe, with your answer BillyBobZorton.

Actually CME and CBOE have a positive impact on bitcoin price changes but not on bitcoin ownership because CME and CBOE (don't have bitcoin) as BillyBobZorton says. IMO the positive impact that CME and CBOE give is when they make speeches and highlighted by the media the news and eventually spread quickly in yt blog sites twitter ft or maybe other sites. That raises positive speculation among speculators, traders and investors. And undoubtedly the price of bitcoin at that time the prices go up to $ 20,000.
Who do you think gives a positive effect on bitcoin price changes CME and CBOE or Media? ...
Well everything is up to you only you can judge.

I feel opposite of your opinion and i think CME has a major impact on bitcoin prices. As you Know that Bitcoin is mostly being effect by the good and bad news of the market and CME futures is playing a major role here.
My suggestion to bitcoin holders is not to panic even if the contract closes and price dumps to 7 or 8K. It is rising again as you may see.
CME and CBOE both don't have an impact on this market, and rightfully so. At first just the speculation around both of them was enough to trigger an all time high, but as you see now, it's nothing more than an empty bucket.

These futures serve as a gambling tool for those who don't want to mess with Bitcoin itself. It's short term gambling, that aside from its price, has nothing to do with Bitcoin itself.

It's a great tool however for skeptics and doom thinkers. If one believes that Bitcoin will collapse and whatnot, futures are the perfect way to put your money where your mouth is, and show how much of a man you are by going short.

Initially CME FUTURES intends to build bitcoin prices in December 2017 but in January 2018 their plan deviated from the original plan and correlated with the whale entourage to betray bitcoin. Actually Closure of CME FUTURES contributed greatly to the growth of bitcoin by that time February 14, 2018 bitcoin had an increase in value from $ 8,000 rose to $ 10.240 - $ 10.242.

people are making too big a deal out of CME futures now. whereas it has been around for a while now.
when they made the announcement last year, everyone was talking about it and then it was forgotten completely until a couple of days ago when the price took the dip! then they all started talking about it.

it is not going to change anything. the recent drop had too little to do with this.

CME future has somehow manipulated the bitcoin market in last few weeks. Investors are expecting to see improvement in the situation after CME future expiry on 26th Jan. I am expecting to see BTC at $13K at the time of closing.

I think bitcoin will be dumped below $10k once again near the time of CME closing date but after that it might fly high along with all other alts. So its better to have some series of buy orders below $10k right now, you shouldn't miss the last chance to grab some cheap bitcoins.
