Never mind I'm just high. But if mining was farmville and trading was animated in some way, cryptocurrency would have already become totally mainstream. As long as the buy in was easy enough. But yeah totally half-baked.

Dammit Man! I didn't have much free time to begin with! lol

Very true. As a marketer, I believe the problem with cryptocurrencies not reaching out to the average joe is the unnecessary complications and complex technical terms they need to understand to become a part of the community. Fun stuff do indeed work. I even got one of the coins that I support a rap song, and a fun explanatory video for another.

Simplify things for people.

I meant that now I"l have even less free time because I"ll be playing this damn game. lol

Dev Teams, How do/did you promote your coin(s)? There's a coin that i'm taking over promoting of because I'd love to see it succeed, but aside from promoting it on facebook(I'm going to be offering some free coins after a wallet download), I'm really pretty in the dark about promotion. Knowing this, I turn to the community at large for ideas.

Publicly mentioning the name of the coin would be a great start! lol Cheesy

I do agree, lol. Aide from trying to get a coin back on track, I am also just gathering info on good promo tactics for when I finally launch my own coin. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread incase there are more folks out there like me, who want to promote, but are clueless.    The coin I"m trying to correct is Piratecoin(see my sig for more info)

Promoting a coin involves a lot of work and it all depends on the nature of the coin and the target audience.

Let's assume you're targeting the existing crypto-currency community, or the people who are already involved with cryptos.

You first would need to build the online properties for the coin, and these include: The website, forum, wiki (base properties), then some social media  properties (facebook, twitter, youtube and reddit).

Next, you'd need to get some visitors to all these various properties. This could be achieved by many ways, including:

PPC advertising for the website or forum.
Facebook ads for Facebook page or website.
An ANN thread with all information regarding the coin
Video promotions on youtube
and so on and so forth

The ways to achieve this are endless! Again, you just need to have a primary goal and you just work your way towards it.

PS: I'm not really a coin dev, but I own a Web Design / Marketing company and we're currently working with 2 alt coin owners, designing and marketing their properties. We're also going to launch a service for 'Alt Coin Marketing' very soon. If you need help with anything just ask here or you can PM me any time.

Good luck

Thanks.

The coin has a fairly solid website and facebook presence, though no PPC so far. There has been a ANN tread running since  before  launch. I set up a subreddit last night.  I didn't think of youtube promo, but that's a damn good idea.  The main problem the coin has is that the dev is largely absent due to time constraints, so for the past few weeks, the coin's been left to its own devices with very little input. There's been enough noise made that myself and another miner have decided to take the reins and see what can be done

Everything Klazzik said.... and Giveaways! The best way to get people to take an interest in a coin and its value is to put some in their hands.  Faucets are magnificently effective, and so are forum and Facebook giveaways
