A close-friend and work colleague of mine are in preparation stages of developing a new coin. The purpose of the coin will be to spend within snow sports merchandise and eventually holidays.

I think you need a little more focus. Snow Sports is too big a market.

How about a coin for purchasing extra-large non-fat latte's at ski-lodges?

It's primarily based for UK snow sports industries. As we already have a company on board and links to several holiday companies in the UK for both family and student based trips. Along with three more major snowboard makes and clothing we're happy with where we will market the coin. The coin development end is more where we are worried, not the commercial links Smiley

Hi there,

A close-friend and work colleague of mine are in preparation stages of developing a new coin. The purpose of the coin will be to spend within snow sports merchandise and eventually holidays. The two of us have over five years experience of working within the snow sports industry and worked closely with university snow sports clubs, snow based holiday companies and snow merchandise companies. We already have entered talks with merchandise and holiday companies regarding the implementation of the coin for their business. At this stage we already have one confirmed retailer that will be using this currency on their website. Information regarding this can be discussed at a later date.

Who are you?

More about myself, my name is Joe and I'm a graduate from Sheffield in the UK where I studied Computer Science. I currently work in web development however I also am familiar with other programming languages. I have opted on partial development status of this project due to my work load within real life. I will also act as a delegate between snow based companies and the coin in furthering the use of it.

My colleague Harry is currently studying Computer-Aided Design at Sheffield also. Harry has a lot experience within the UK based snow sports industry and the business operations within it and thus will be in charge of the business side of the coin.

Anyone else on the team?

As we are only a couple of people we are looking to recruit more people into our team in order to get the ball rolling further. We'd be looking for someone to act as a community manager so that at times when we are busy there will always be someone to reply to consult in any way possible. We aim to be as transparent as possible and therefore this will be quite a time intensive job role. We'll likely also be looking for a graphics designer to make everything look nice and neat. Hopefully we'll have more information on job roles in the near future. The purpose of this thread is not to recruit intensively at this time but more of a open-ended discussion regarding the coin.

How will you fund it?

We'll be funding this project ourselves. We also have two financial investors who were university colleagues of ours and are donating the money to the cause out of good will as they are interested in the prospect of the idea. Jobs will be paid either per task or weekly depending on the intensity of the job role. Further bounties may be posted for one-off small things. All jobs and bounties will be paid in BTC as there be no premine in any sense.

How will it work?

Which brings us to the next point. We want to ensure the survival of this coin in a long term status because of the rewards that it will already offer from day one. Therefore we aim to keep the total amount of coins relatively low. Not only that but the mining period would be quite a significant amount of time. No exact figure has been set in stone as of yet however. To ensure a fair launch we will not be launching until everything is confirmed and the appropriate tools are released for everyone to use. Further to this we haven't currently decided what algorithm to use so that is still up for debate, although we do have one or two ideas. There will be no IPO or ICO as with all these sad-coins coming out everyday.

So...

We feel that if you believe something is going to be a success then you shouldn't be funding the project via an IPO or instamining the hell out of a coin. So at the end of the day, all we have to lose is our money, but it's a fun experience all the same. If your interested in anything regarding this topic please shout up, as it's always interesting to learn more about how people feel about the concept.
