I was the regular user of Coinbase for more than 1 year. Due to its free transfers, I time ago assumed that Bitcoin transactions have zero fees. However, joining this forum I came by fees and issue of increasing fees. But as Coinbase started charging fees, now I can personally experience this issue too.
However, now I have diversified by bitcoins in different web wallets and since internal transfers are free for web wallets, I can save fees in 3 of 5 cases.
People recommend Xapo but I have zero trust on them.

never liked Coinbase first place, also they do not allow you to send funds to gambling sites
it is against their TOS and they could block your account and confiscate funds, too
so now that they charge fees (and not small fees too) for transactions,I don't see how anyone would use Coinbase
as their first choice wallet, there are so many similar services, offering more functionality and less stringent rules

But those fees are not for their pocket, it is for miners, it's not like if it was a plan to build the income of the company. I think they have been enough kind to handle those fees since years. There are still lot of people considering coinbase as their first web based wallet.

I also used coinbase for a long time - these new fees are the death for microtransactions.
But now the question: What is the best onlinewallet with the lowest fees actually?
Xapo is an altenative that doesn't charge fees to send transaction, i tested it last week to check after reading here about the zero fees. Go to take a look at it

What is your reaction regarding to all coinbase user that they add fees now, actually i just know this 1 hour ago when i tried to send a btc to my mycelium account and when i try to send all my balances it seems say that is not worth it and i try to decrease it .001 as usual it confirmed with 50k satoshi fee....

Anybody coinbase user here... What is your reaction or feedbacks about in coinbase that it add fees now?

And also what is disadvantage will happen?

I just know if coinbase also charge up to 50k satosi fees, I always use coinbase for a small transaction fees and never pay attention if there is a fee, if any fees, of course I consider redirecting to another free wallet.

You should pay attention cause miner fees are important especially now that coinbase stopped shouldering the miner fees of the users transactions but the coinbase to coinabase transactions are still free . The reason for this is because they are paying huge amounts of  since there are a million users and still counting . If you still want a feature like this, You might wanna try Xapo . I've only used it a few times so I cant even tell a brief review of it for you .
Yes, It's important the miner fees of any transactions, It implies great attention that specific transactions. It helps the completed with in a little time span. But coinbase charge pretty big. About xapo they also take fees in every received, but send money is free.
Well, your right that we need to pay the miners every transaction that we made. About in xapo i think they are just taking a fees if you are just receiving 47k satoshi in your xapo account, so in that way they will deduct the fees for it. But if your receiving 48k satoshi they will deduct it for you.

Sorry for the wrong info, I already stopped using their wallet and haven't been reading updates about them for months . Today, I just updated myself regarding their miner fees . They actually made changes again . Transactions between xapo accounts are free but if you send bitcoins from your xapo to an external account they will charge a 34K sats and if you received bitcoins between 0.0002673 and 0.00040095 they will charge 2K sats .

Now, I really don't see a reason why would I go use an online wallet  Grin

EDIT: See more details here: https://in.xapo.com/fees/
I guess they can't handle paying the higher fees on the network right now.

No online wallet provider should cover the fees for you, it's completely open to abuse and it's an oversimplification of the network.  At least now people will question what they actually do for you except make it look nice.

Maybe this'll convince some people to move their savings into a safer wallet.

I did not notice that they are added a fee's option  but i think we have now advantage of using coinbase .. because before we are not trusting coinbase to use due to not asking for a fee for every transaction now they are added it. now i don't still see any reason why they are added a fee option for every transaction outside..

I already hear that if they will add fee I prefer to use other online wallet since I use that wallet because I want to save some  fees. I still have other choice like my local online wallet  or else I will use the wallet that i have  full control since it's almost the same that have fee.  it will not be a big problem for me.
That's a good idea but the only thing i didn't like was even after they took fees which i don't have much problem as they are an exchange the speed of the transactions were worse than before so if this continues even I'll just switch to a desktop wallet.
I did try to use coinbase now and it does really require some fees and when i make a transfer confirmation times is just like the same on before without having any fees which really make me confused why they added huge fees but the confirmation times is still slower.

I was using coinbase regulary before this change, but now i don't use for any small transaction. If you are looking for an alternative then take a look at Xapo. It is a web wallet not charging any fees when sending a transaction. The wallet is really simple to use and straigh to the point.

Yes xapo is not charging if your transaction is higher, so if you don't want to be charged with them better not to transact with small amounts. Just checkout their update https://in.xapo.com/fees/ and if someone will send you  0.0002673 BTC, that will directly go to xapo as indicated to their new policy and just transact always with them higher than this

Earlier I was the regular user of the coinbase but now from last week j stopped to use it because of the future question by American government for the coinbase wallet .
Are you talking bout IRS audits and potential cryptocurrency 'legalization'?

I doubt that any problem I can face in the future so I transferred my all.of the bitcoin in the blockchain and mysellium .
Considered how blockchain.info is affected by various bugs I don't think if using this wallet is ideal solution.

Here I am a user of official wallet of bitcoin that is blockchain .
Blockchain.info is not official bitcoin w wallet. People might get that impression because of the name Blockchain is being used.
The only wallet you may consider as closest to 'official Bitcoin wallet' is Bitcoin Core, originally developed by Satoshi.

Here about every trusted wallet charging fee then why we should go for the third party .
Here I am a user of official wallet of bitcoin that is blockchain . And this change in the feature of the coinbase of charge fee is not a big thing for me because I already paying transaction charges in my other bitcoin wallet .

Really concern, almost cut 50k satoshi for every transaction. It's annoying too and will disturb the wallet user. As long as their users will give up this service. Better try another, I also trying other service. No point to give them this huge amont every time.
Me too, that's really annoying if you only send below 0.001 BTC it makes you paid double for every transaction with such high fees (compared with web wallet). However, it makes your transaction goes faster than before with that miner's fee.

It is only a matter of time that even Xapo will be charging fees in the future, the thing i do not like with coinbase is that even with a higher transaction fees they wont be sending that instantly and that i think is annoying and they will loose customers because of that, they could opt for other options for every users as they could just send them as batches and they can lower the transaction charge if they want to.

But I use XAPO account for my regular payments sending and receiving, and their transactions are quite fast. I'm using them for more than two years and so far never had any transaction delay issues. Until now they are not adding any transaction fee but if they add then people will move to blockchain wallet instead of these guys. They are attracting more people to their wallets because no transaction fees.

Well I know a couple of ppl who recently got into bitcoins and as always new bitcoiners get to faucets to try to get you know "free money" and they all use coinbase. I guess they are pretty much upset now Smiley)

But If we are being fair, coinbase has a lot of users that it no longer needs to stand out or grab attention.
They just can't keep paying the tx fees forever. It was clear that a time will come when they say ok it's time to stop the losses.

But xapo has a receiving fee if you received less than the amount of 0.00040095 btc, so you have to avoid sending to your xapo wallet addresses with less than those amount mentioned but if its not from you then its okay but as I said it has receiving fee.

i was using coinbase to send bitcoin to my users without any fees but now they add fees 0.5$ per transactions
but transfer from coinbase to another coinbase still for free just enter email receiver , do not enter an bitcoin address
or they will count a fees of 0.5$
also there are no send in bulk at coinbase
So transactions between other coinbase users are free? Miner/transaction fees are taken care of by them?
So the only way I can think of this happening if you enter in their email address they used to register with coinbase for them to know if your sending to another coinbase member.
Any clarification on this revealing fact? Huh

I believe that if you're using a Coinbase address the same thing happens. At least it used to -- I've sent payments before that showed "to Coinbase user" when using their actual address.
Ah now I see how it works.
Might be interested in trying their service.
I just read something on a bitcoin news site something to do with the exchange service cutting the fees for exchanges between btc and eth using their system now.
So they are finally coming around in the demands from their customers when they see them losing a lot of respect from them due to clawing back their no transaction fees on all their wallet users.

We all are Coinbase user have already known that issue. As a beginner it's not good news.  Though Counbase user to user transaction fee still free without any cost. Meanwhile, thought that it also need to maintain to make friendly.

I have serious doubts about Coinbase. The only "Support" they seem to respond within "4+" hours is complaints regarding transactions -- THEY respond by instantly freezing the account ... and their Customer Service will take weeks or maybe never to respond.
I know for a fact that the company has a back-door into their accounts ... so all some "outside exchange"  needs is your email address to use it to buy through your Coinbase account and then instantly vanish the purchase out of your Coinbase account.

I would sooner give my credit card to a stranger than link Coinbase up to a Bank Account.
bad luck.

Haven't used them for a while as they were getting silly with their restrictions, the fact that they now charge fees is not going to benefit them really as I would imagine that was one of the plus points of using Coinbase.

How about sending small amount like 0.0005 like close friends giving you small amount tip. it will have a receiving fee also?
Receiving fee? You mean that someone will have to pay for it? No. That is not how the bitcoin normally works.
The sender is the only one who need to pay transaction fee. But you don't want to use BTC for tipping people anymore.
The fee needed to send that 0.0005 BTC would be... around 0.0005 BTC Smiley

I got this from coinbase support:

Using our wallet services to receive and store digital currency is free.

Your conversion rate for buying or selling digital currency through our Conversion Service is calculated as the market rate of the digital currency on Coinbase’s GDAX platform, plus a spread of up to 50 basis points. The final rate will be quoted to you before you complete your transaction.

We charge fees to use the Conversion Service, which vary based on your location and payment method. In some cases we may charge a fee on transfers to and from your bank account. We will always notify you of the service fee that applies to your transaction, both at the time of the transaction and in each receipt we issue to you.

obviously you can receive bitcoin for free. So my advice will be to store enough bitcoin before trying to transfer or spend. That's the only way not to feel the impact of the fees.

coinbase added fees for another wallet user only, till now coinbase to coinbase trasaction free. Right now i have make a transaction coinbase to coinbase and its totally free.
Yes, transfers between Coinbase wallets remains free. But if I'm not wrong, to avoid fee, you have to insert Coinbase user email instead of address, in other way, fee would be charged.

Time to get used to the idea of having to pay for using a service, people. If it isn't straight up a fee then you'll always end up paying for the service some way or other. No such thing as a free lunch.

In beginner and still using the Coinbase wallet service, most reason safe fees. Notice that, From now using Coinbase wallet services will be cut down transaction fees. The concern is it's about 50% higher fee for a single transaction. But satisfaction is Coinbase users to users still transaction free of cost.

Do  you guys know a good alternative finally? I don't mind paying theirs fees when i am sending transactions like 0.01BTC But for very small amounts like 0.001BTC it's juste a waste of money. Someone mentionned Xapo, wich i don't know a lot, but i heard they do have fees as well. And another member mentionned casino, what is the trick with casino websites?

So the only choice of those users that always using those services(web wallets/exchanges) that don't have fees for making transaction with bitcoin is what? I don't know also.
Yeah i think also they are just using coinbase because of what coinbase is not charging fees for every transaction they made, me too just using it for transfering my bitcoin to another address just without sending that not charging fees, but now they added without any reason or they have reason why they add fees just i didn't know/update

its not a problem to send over 50$ with 0.80$ or even 1$ of fees
but its not good to send 1$ with fees of 0.5$ , as i'm running a PTC website that pay bitcoin to users for view ads
lets say i'm going to pay to 10 users every users 1$
10x1.5$ = 15$ , 5$ fees just to send 10$
Just use a casino wallet to send them out for free to all those users if your going to make it a big deal with having to pay them all out.
Dam it.
Just don't send from your coinbase wallet or they will freeze all your bitcoins or anything you have in your account besides that.

What, really?

I used to use Coinbase a lot when I was a beginner and a faucet reaper.

To be honest I am pretty shocked at the company's decision. Because the main reason people use their service anyways is to avoid the high network fees. People obviously are abusing it and it is generating too much burden on Coinbase's wallets to keep up with the ever growing bitcoin price as well as transaction fees.

Well, this opens up a new market for micropayment wallet services, as well as competitors like Xapo.

If fees is too high for, you can do payments to microwallets like Faucethub or ePay. You can use their API to send payouts. It would be best solutions, because they are not charging fees for payments, you only will be charged small fee from your deposit.

I have the feeling a lot of sites like yours will end up going to another coin, like DOGE, simply because it's cheaper. Even LTC would work as an alternative.

i was using coinbase to send bitcoin to my users without any fees but now they add fees 0.5$ per transactions
but transfer from coinbase to another coinbase still for free just enter email receiver , do not enter an bitcoin address
or they will count a fees of 0.5$
also there are no send in bulk at coinbase
That is still cheaper than the wallet I am using and the dynamic fees they added on to the transaction I did just this morning.
It was for $0.80 to send out $49 worth of bitcoins.
So that was still cheaper for the amount of bitcoins sent.

Its actually not their fault as at the time that they Dont charge any fees! Its not as if the fees are not there but its because they are paying it on users behalf. We all agree that the tx fees are going through the roof these days and comparing the number of users that are they have to service on a daily basis then they just need to shed some of the cost if they are still interested in running a business...

Bitcoin has never been anonymous. This is one of the misconception about bitcoin. And about this change on coinbase, this is something that was needed to be excepted soon or later. I am not surprised about it. They couldn't continue paying the fees for the miners forever

I am only surprised that Coinbase managed to keep their business fee-less model for so long. They most likely wasted quite some money on these high fees.
Bitcoin users need to understand - privacy is not free, by using Coinbase they were giving up their privacy - therefore fees were paid for them.
But when the situation changed, and fees become too much of an economic burden for Coinbase, they give up. No reason to use CB as a wallet anymore.

The higher degree of privacy costs much less if you are using Monero and your privacy is really much more protected. Bitcoin isn't anonymous coin anymore. Governement can track you.

It's better to use blockchain and add a variable fee instead of using coinbase that's useless now if they are charging such high fees for every transaction. First of all, they are a third-party wallet not giving us the private keys to our addresses and then they close accounts if they detect unusual activity making us very our accounts. What's the point of using their wallet now after that have hit the last nail in the wall?

Fees were paid for by other fees they charge (buying and selling coins on their exchange and directly, as well as those charged for businesses that wanted to utilize them). So they didn't keep things "fee-less... for so long" -- what they did is make money on other services.

I was using Coinbase web wallet for a while now but now i will stop that. At first they have limited transactions without fee to 20ish at day and now this. They are on way to act like fiat banks and i am just waiting to they charge fee just for managing our accounts. instead of Coinbase, i will use mycelium on my phone for pocket money. It is much faster, safer and better option for me.

I used them solely because they had no fees (same as Xapo). Now that both have gone the same route, I no longer use either one. Coinbase has been going in a dark direction lately with regards to their ridiculous way of reporting buys/sells, and this just pushes it over the edge.

Well, it was only question of time when they will introduce transaction fees. It's understandable step - now Coinbase have lot of customers, but since bitcoin network fees raised, Coinbase can't cover it from their pocket.
Free transactions was main reason why Coinbase become so popular. But now they don't have any advantages against other online wallets.
It's also worth to mention that Xapo earlier this year introduced fees (or in other words disabled) for small transactions. And I wouldn't be surprised if soon Xapo will start to charge fees for all transactions.

There are no disadvantages will happen, if people change there wallet well thats good to hear (tho coinbase is not a wallet, its an account) than to entrust your money on this kind of service that you dont have the access of your private key and also a service that has so many issues, I doubted if they are solved already by coinbase support.

I already hear that if they will add fee I prefer to use other online wallet since I use that wallet because I want to save some  fees. I still have other choice like my local online wallet  or else I will use the wallet that i have  full control since it's almost the same that have fee.  it will not be a big problem for me.

I saw some people mentioning that the fees is charged for faster transactions but that's wrong the fees was introduced yesterday and the speed was still really slow cor me.
Nope not just coinbase only not charging fees in every transaction, also coins.ph but it strictly for philippines user only, Anyways me too wasn't not happy and didn't want to happen this from coinbase but it should be because business is business there's no free.....

it's inevitable and everyone should be thankful they paid up for so long. if they carried on paying fees it would add up to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per month. this is the way everything's going right now.

on the other side a few merchants are now accepting bitcoin payments direct from coinbase wallets which means it's an off chain transaction and won't cost you anything. if you buy stuff with bitcoin it's worth keeping an eye out for that because soon enough it'll be too expensive to buy small stuff with bitcoin on chain.

I used Coinbase extensively while I was collecting a small amount from various faucets and it was free to transfer, so I didn't lost any satoshi. I think that many beginners who are still using faucets are left now with a big trouble. 0.0005 BTC fee is very high for faucet guys and I don't know any solution to transfer your BTC for free.

One of the main reasons to use Coinbase was that they didn't have fees. Now looks it's just more one online wallet and there isn't special reasons to use it anymore... And there is that issue with gambling sites too. Maybe they had to add fees as they need fast transactions and without charging users they could have losses.
I think that people mainly use it for its purpose as an exchange.  It's quite convenient for people who are not actually much good at trading and just need something obvious to buy and sell when they want into a "wallet".
