They're 'exploring'. Nothing is guaranteed at this stage, I don't think. They might not add all of these coins either, they could consider only adding a portion of the coins that are listed on the blog post.
Personally I think it's a rather poor waste of resources and will further diminish their customers trust in them.
They are not working to resolve existing issues but rather trying to add more coins, most likely for profits, instead of working on bettering their support system which has been proven to be terribly slow, or trying to address ongoing problems with account suspensions or whatnot. Besides, with such a tarnished history with holding customer funds and being unresponsive, I don't really see a point in using their hosted wallet service rather than having a trustless wallet (even Exodus) for these coins that they are integrating, unless you want to exchange them with fiat.

Looks like they are planning to make the coinbase wallet as multi crypto wallet because they are also planning to add ERC20 this is great news for those who using coinbase
I don't hold most of those coins that will be added to them but still this is a great news for them and this is why many are starting feel FOMO for these coins.Coinbase won't let themselves to be in the last line while most of their competitors are gaining the attraction of having more coins in the process.
for me it is still not safe to save all coins in one basket, choosing a wallet that you can backup private keys is always recommended.
I'm also concerned for those people that will treat coinbase as their entire cold wallet since it's a trusted company where they can entrust their funds but still having that type of wallet where you hold private key is still essential. 
To be honest, I am a bit concerned about ZCash.
Since ZCash is consdiered a privacy coin and I dont think that Coinbase will risk and ist assets which are privacy oriented because of potential problems which can arise from regularatory laws.
It's likely that Zcash will be available for trading only on Coinbase. Users wont be able to deposit and withdraw it. Something similar like on Revolut - people can buy and sell crypto, but it's not possible to use service as a wallet for crypto. Since ZCash is consdiered a privacy coin and I dont think that Coinbase will risk and ist assets which are privacy oriented because of potential problems which can arise from regularatory laws.

It's funny that they didn't accept Ripple, which is a very high market cap coin but chose to add stellar and the rest. It's like they're making fun of ripple and saying, we'll take all the altcoins but not yours. I don't like what ripple stands for and that's why I'm not disappointed, especially since their CEO is talking shit.
For users out there who use up coinbase then this would be a good add up.

Yeah, at first I was thinking this sort of pre-announcement might be some kind of scheme to pump the named coins. But considering this and what happened before, it makes sense and seems like a better approach in my opinion.

Exactly, Probably that kind of accusations is what they actually wants to avoid. But on the other hand if they add those 5 coins then thr prices will go over the moon.
Why I did not see any of the coins that you listed. It is is already listed to the coinbase already or it will be add next month or plan. But if the coinbase really add more coins to their wallet it is good news because we can save our coins to coinbase easily because coinbase waller is trusted I hope they add more coins who are potential.
