Coinbase could be waiting since the fees are currently through the roof.

Yup, check this out:

The mempool is through the roof again.  The block size simply can't accommodate the number of transactions.

I wish my transaction was in the Mempool, my problem is Coinbase has not broadcasted the transaction yet through their node

It's a same problem everywhere because of the mempool filling up and it just gets worse every second: https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions
Now 180K+ unconfirmed transactions. Some people have sent Bitcoin last night and still zero confirmations.

About 5 hours ago I sent some bitcoin out of Coinbase.

It has been 5 hours and still it shows as 'Pending' and has not been broadcast.

Any help appreciated.
