Just keep trying to negotiate. If they truly own the private keys they should be able to do something. Maybe it'll cost them someone to do it, and you'll have to pay that cost, but surely it can't take more than hiring a person to do it for 15 minutes, right guys? Pay him by the hour.

But seriously, why do people never double/triple check things like this? Expensive lesson learned.

In cases like this, it all depends on how things are set in TOS (terms of service), and Coinbase made a very clear point about it. Although technically possible, this situation requires expert technical staff and is not desirable from a safety point of view. In other words, a return on your assets would only pose a security risk to the company.

I'm not sure, but I don't think Coinbase has an official representative on this forum, so I recommend you to try get their attention on Twitter or Facebook.

great advice. I'll try to get their attention on twitter or facebook.

They wont respond its a waste of time.
This mistake has been done on your side, so take your chance or forget about funds. Social media is your best gun for attracting their attention, did you try Trustpilot? Sometimes they answer the queries there, try your luck.

Btw, use wallet watching apps for tracking the any acitivty on the specific ETH address, you will know when to hire lawyer Wink

This is just about consideration on Coinbase's part but they have said it already, I feel sorry for your loss elrid but there's nothing we can do in here. The support already stated that they can no longer send you back the USDT.

And with the link they provided, they have stated it there since the publication of that page.

Cryptocurrencies or other tokens that are not listed on this page are not supported by Coinbase. Coinbase is unable to process any transaction made using an unsupported cryptocurrency.

As per User Agreement for wrong transactions, they will take into account if it's their fault but in your case, it's different. However, at last part they've said they can "try" but of no guarantee and that's the response the support replied you.

Incorrect Transactions.
Where an Incorrect Transaction is made as a result of our action or error we shall refund to you the amount of that transaction without undue delay and restore your E-Money Wallet to the state in which it would have been had the Incorrect Transaction not taken place. We will also endeavour to provide you with reasonable notice where possible. We will also pay any charges for which we are responsible, and for any interest which you can show that you have had to pay as a consequence of any Incorrect Transaction. Irrespective of our liability, on your request, we shall try to trace any Incorrect Transaction initiated by you free of charge. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to trace such transactions.

You can try that but that might just less effect on a big company like coinbase. They already responded to you that they won't bother themselves figuring it for you alone. You can wait for years maybe one day they will like the USDT.

$1340 is a lot, you can definitely invest it somewhere if you just make sure where to send it. I know the feeling because I have sent an ERC token myself to an exchange that didn't list the token.

They will not respond you on twiiter or facebook. If they start doing this , then millions of users will bother them through social media. You have already tried the right way to reach their support and you got the answer from their support.

Do you think they will change their point of view, if you contact them through social media ? I am afraid but your money is lost because you send it to a wrong address.

But how can they be lost if they have access to them Huh

If they did not have access to them, then yes, we can say that they are lost. But they have access to them, they can send them anywhere.

It's not about 10 dollars. The equivalent of $ 1340 has been sent.

'The right to privacy matters'
I know bittrex has stated to me personally via emails USA laws prohibits them from allowing me to have USDT access.

So I think op. is being screwed by USA laws not coin base.

Note:  I am not a lawyer.    This is an "I think in my opinion" based on info from bittrex about usdt

Coinbase has private keys from the address where I sent USDT, they can send these USDT back without any problems, or assign them to yourself.

Take them to small claims court.  Good luck with the lawsuit.

Sounds nasty on my part.  But you are looking at it from your viewpoint not their viewpoint.

It is laborious to do it from their viewpoint.

Once they do it they will have basically killed off the wallet.
It may violate USA law for them to do it.

The best you can do is screen shot the coin every day.

Send an email in a week asking them again.

screen shot the coin every for week 2.
send an email in one more week asking them again.

so you take 7 screen shots daily week 1 send email week 1 ask nicely
you take 7 screen shots  daily week 2. send email week 2 ask nicely

do this for five weeks

then tell them if you need to you will contact an attorney
also them them if the funds vanish you will contact California legal authorities

post every week  right here what you are going to do for the next week.

then show this thread everywhere you can.

I think they are bound by law to not do it due to USA laws.
Thus I think you fucked up.

But if you screen shot it and it moves. you can prove they broke the rules. since only they can move it.

If you send cryptocurrency that Coinbase does not support or send cryptocurrency to a wallet that isn’t specifically for that cryptocurrency, those funds cannot be recovered by Coinbase.
What part of that is not clear? Sorry for your loss but Coinbase cannot help in this matter. The various coin protocols are not setup to allow it.

I mistakenly sent the USDT token in the amount of 1,333.283153 to my ETH address in coinbase 0xe69bc0cb22bc57adae68aac7f1da7606377f4303.

The operation itself can be viewed here: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xeb0877bb40936fc583f2840958016ca1ce6527cd488d5475dc0ce821642dcece

On my coinbase 0xe69bc0cb22bc57adae68aac7f1da7606377f4303 wallet, the amount of tokens received is visible here:
https://etherscan.io/address/0xe69bc0cb22bc57adae68aac7f1da7606377f4303#tokentxns

This operation was completed in error. The private keys for the address 0xe69bc0cb22bc57adae68aac7f1da7606377f4303 belong to coinbase. Coinbase employees can easily send erroneously sent USDT tokens from this address, since coinbase has private keys for the address 0xe69bc0cb22bc57adae68aac7f1da7606377f4303.

Unfortunately, coinbase does not work with USDT tokens, but Coinbase still has the technical ability to send token data. These funds were indeed sent in error, but they are not lost forever. For me, this is a lot of money that you can return to me. I have been coinbase users for a long time and always only spoke positively of you, I ask you to do everything possible to help me in my situation.

Unfortunately, support wrote that they could not help me in this situation, but this is not true. They can manage the usdt tokens that were sent to one of the coinbase addresses.

Coinbase support for my usdt return request responded like this:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Coinbase. Your Coinbase account includes a wallet for each cryptocurrency supported by Coinbase. When sending cryptocurrency to Coinbase, you must send it to the correct wallet in your Coinbase account.

If you send cryptocurrency that Coinbase does not support or send cryptocurrency to a wallet that isn’t specifically for that cryptocurrency, those funds cannot be recovered by Coinbase. For a list of digital currencies supported on Coinbase, please visit: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2630943. Coinbase always recommends sending a small amount of currency if you are in doubt.

Thanks,

Forum participants bitcointalk.org help me get the message to coinbase. Obviously, support is distracting by patterns and is not prone to solving problems.
