To me this isn't even worth checking out. I don't keep anything on coinbase and if they want to do that that's their business because there are no regulations on Bitcoin in that particular realm. So the fact is if you want to keep your coins on there and put them at risk that's your choice.  Its been advised many times to remove your money from the online wallets before Aug 1.

If they want to play games and if this is an actual real event and not just somebody on the phone trying to get attention, then rip your coins out of there and put them back later after August 1st. They want to play games give them nothing to play with.

FAKE. They are alting deposits and withdrawals. ONLY if you believe there will be a fork, and want to get the new coins you should withdraw from coinbase. If you don´t believe there will be a fork or have no interested in the new coins just leave it be and don´t touch your account around Aug 1st.

So, Bip91(softfork) = chain split?  Huh Huh Roll Eyes Roll Eyes The signaling of BIP91 has the purpose of avoiding the chain split which already had the majority of the hash. Forget about BIP148 that related to the UASF.

I think that you must forget about the chain split and stop to make another member or holders are feeling panic caused by the word of chain split.

OP, Have you read the statement by theymos from the article that the link already mentioned in above of the homepage?

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but on top of BP91 BP141 et all  which are going well, there is a minority who have decided to hardfork an 8Mb version of bitcoin on Aug1st. They've called it BCC (Bitcoin Cash). It's a minority initiative that won't have much impact if any, at least in the short term.

No, this is not right. They're not seizing bitcoins from users' accounts and they just warned people not to make transactions during 1 august.

Wow  Grin

There's a hardfork due on Aug 1st which will get you an additional new coin (Bitcoin Cash, BCC) for each bitcoin you hold.

Coinbase said they will not let people who hold their coins at Coinbase get the benefit of the new coins. They will keep the new coins you were entitled to for themselves, but you will still have your original bitcoins. So yeah it is theft for all intents and purposes and I would seriously consider moving to a more reliable exchange, but it doesn't go as far as stated in the article.

This is the land of wolves now & you're not a wolf
They aren't going to seize anything. Deposits and withdrawals may temporarily be halted so they sent out an email saying to transfer any funds out prior to the 30th that you don't want to be temporarily tied up.

I'm going to move the funds that I have there despite it not being that much

There's no evidence at all that they will seize bitcoins or accounts, that's just FUD.
