Hello fellow N00bz!

I just successfully completed a transaction with Coinbase's new bank to BTC method. It was super easy and took about three days for the transaction to finalize. This was, by far, the easiest and most convenient way for me to exchange my cash to BTC! If you're sick of Bitinstant, ZipZap, Moneygram, etc. etc. I'd check it out!

Thanks!

Olaf from Coinbase here.

I'm glad you like Coinbase! If you verify your identity you can purchase bitcoin instantly too. Thanks for the feedback -  it's always appreciated.

Do you know if it will always take that long? I was thinking/hoping it would be same day.

If you have third level verification, you can buy instantly.  The verification process requires you to forgo some privacy but its pretty easy.

Were you able to sign a transaction after sending coins?

I think with BitFloor.com you can use the cash deposit at a Bank of America branch to fund your account same day and then get your coins immediately using a Market Order for a 0.4% transaction fee.  If you are willing to use a Limit Order and wait until someone fills it, BitFloor.com will pay you a 0.1% bonus (instead of charging you a fee).

EDIT: As of 2013-04-17 BitFloor has ceased all operations.

Afaik, no coinbase equivalent in the UK yet, ie with link to bank account. Imho this is really what will widen adoption of bitcoin, making it as easy as paypal... So still lots of growth to look forward to when other countries catch up to the US on that front. Of course for more advanced users, much better to buy btc from a dedicated trading site as I assume ease of use means higher fees Smiley

I just bought my first bitcoin a few days ago on coinbase.   The transaction is "pending" and will complete after 7 days.

Coinbase uses ACH, the same method Dwolla uses.  Ever had funds sent to Dwolla clear on the same day?  3-5 business days is standard for ACH.

I placed an order with Coinbase on Monday the 5th and I'm still waiting...they said my bitcoins would arrive yesterday but they haven't. I emailed them this morning but haven't heard back yet. Still hopeful that this is legit!!
