The noncustodial app is poorly designed in a way that there's no alternative way of logging into the app directly apart from the biometric method once you have it activated. So it's always better to back up your seeds. Anything can happen to your phone such as theft and your money is gone forever.

I disabled my fingerprint access to my phone then tried opening the app again, but it still asks for biometric verification, which means it's biometric verification is probably independent of the phone's (at least for android)

I am also a Coinbase custodial account user and I can log in there successfully. For being able to link the Wallet with it you need access to Wallet - and I cannot log in there now (getting the message: "Biometry is not set up on this device. To secure you app, please set this u in your device settings." - "Sign Out" - "Retry").
If all your problem is with face ID then the following setup may help you.
go to Settings >> Face ID & Passcode >> Use Face ID For >> Your APP

In general, do not rely on these settings to protect your money, as they lock your wallet with a password and not encrypt it.

Thanks all!
I do have the non-custodial Coinbase Wallet.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

The email address was used as part of the registration process (as a username).
Have you tried logging in to your account on their website?
You should be able to access your account with your username and password.

This might work.

If you are able to login to your account, it is very important that you immediately transfer your funds to a non-custodial wallet, which you have access to your private keys (seed).

I recomendo that you download Electrum.org wallet, which is easy to use and you can hold your bitcoins there.

Basing on the description of your problem. It looks like you are the custodial wallet rather than the Noncustodial wallet. I don't know how Coinbase wallet is set up in iOS, but you used be able to use other available alternatives for logging into your account such as password, pin or 2FA verification via email address or just use the web version as suggested instead of the app.

The email address was used as part of the registration process (as a username).
This means that you used their custodial wallet, where there is no recovery phrase at all.
I haven't ever used the application in question. But it should be possible to access your account.

I still use the same email address that was used for registering,
Email address? Are you sure you used an email address when you were creating your wallet?
As you were talking about recovery phrase, I assume you used the non-custodial coinbase wallet where you don't need any email address for creating a wallet.

Which coinbase wallet did you use?
Their non-custodial wallet or their custodial wallet?

In their custodial wallet, you must provide an email address and they don't give you any recovery phrase.
In their non-custodial wallet, you don't need any email address and they give you a recovery phrase.

As you said that you had a recovery phrase and also used an email address for creating the wallet, it's not clear which coinbase wallet you used.

Hi.

I very much doubt there is anything that could be done, I"ll still try and would very much appreciate any hint or help.

I started using Coinbase Wallet ~3 months ago - I did set Face ID as part of the login process, and I did not save or backup the recovery phrase (I did not notice the need to do so when reading the conditions). Obviously a big mistake which I know now.

A ~month ago I started having issues using Face ID on my iPhone generally. I did re-set Face ID. Then when trying to log in, I was forced to log out since the face ID was changed.

Without the recovery phrase I could not log in, and it seems I won't be able to do anything that's stored on my Walled (quite a lot of money).

What I was able to do was to use the oldest iCloud backup that was available, and that brought me into the moment where the app forces me to reset Face ID, saying: "Biometry is not set up on this device. To secure your app, please set this up in your device settings."

I still use the same email address that was used for registering, I have the password used to log into Wallet, all money has been sent there (via SimpleCoin) from my own bank account as well.

Any suggestions - is there anything I could do here please?

Many thanks!

Martin
