They are saying they would like to protect users data but can they and will they actualy do it? Are they realy interested to protect their users data? And even if they are do they have the means to do it. I'm sure government has different instruments to make the pressure on coinbase to reveal the data especialy if they want to continue their business in legitimate way.
It hurt so deep like a knife cos if the government proceed withe pressure coin base may give in and i hope coin base have something to make the government stop the petition in other to protect each and every user data appropriate.

Bitcoin exchange Coinbase is under scrutiny by the government agency the IRS, shocking the community. However, it seems Coinbase will be doing everything it can to protect its customer’s data and possibly fight the summons through litigation.

Jokes.Coinbase doesn't give a shit about user's data or their privacy.Coinbase even tracks your damn transactions and if found gambling related, they block the accounts.I don't think it could get any worse.

Actually they can do nothing with that - i mean about transactions with gambling related services. It is already international law. If they will not do that it will be illegal - sorry, that is the true. I don't like that also Sad

About customers data - It looks really bad! Coinbase is fighting, but probably they will lose. And i will have to look for another exchange..  Governments will never stop to trying control cryptocurrencies.

That's  cool since i don't like the act of snooping around. Is there any update about the trial? Does coin base win the petition? Can anyone provide the news

Coinbase knows whats its users want and that is to fight this in court and hopefully win. They will do what the users want to see them do.

It will be a hard fight but good luck to them. History has shown that victory has come from situations similar to this one. We will see how this plays out over time.

Coinbase says, “in its current form, we will oppose the government’s petition in court.”

It's great to see that Coinbase is even considering going with litigation. I was honestly expecting them to fold at the first instance. I guess they realize they would loose too much if they're not seen putting in any (token?) resistance.

So I guess the 'in it's current form' means, if the IRS were willing to acquiesces to a relatively smaller fishing expedition, then Coinbase will capitulate.

Of course they would do it. If they wouldn't which customer would ever trust them. Though this is a tough time for site and customers, but I don't feel anyone needs to worry, those that have complied with the law are not really concerned. So it's good thing that coinbase is doing what it can, and I hope both sides find a middle ground and reach a settlement, without compromising customers privacy.
