I want you to look at my site. [coingarden.ca]
What do you want from me?

More security?

   OR

More convenience?

You tell me.

======= CONTEST DETAILS ========

I have a site that is useful: https://coingarden.ca

My problem is that I have no users.

I think it is either because it does not have enough security options OR that it is not convenient to use.

To solve this, I am proposing to do one of the following:

1. For security: I will add 2 factor (google QR-code) to login and email authentication for account recovery.
2. For convenience: I will allow social media login... like using your facebook account to login.

To win this contest, all YOU need to do is have an opinion.

If you are the first to reply to this message then YOU WIN.

Your prize will be my completion of the task as described.

Act quick and I will throw in this bonus feature:

3. For privacy: TOR onion address for completely anonymous browsing and usage.

So what will it be #1 (more security) or #2 (more convenience)?

This is nice, cool HTML skills so far.

But tell me, since you have access to the API credentials of your 'free customers', what would stop a hacker from misusing the system to make unauthorized payments using those credentials?

Is that completely off the table with your little website?

Great question. You are encouraged to provide "VIEW ONLY" API keys to coingarden.ca

Any exchange worth its salt will allow you to set permission on the API key that provide balance info, but DO NOT allow withdrawal.

It is up to you to check and decide whether your exchange host provides sufficient security in this regard.

In my experience, 95% of exchanges prevent moving of funds by setting the API key permissions limited to balance information.

You will see permission options at some point during key creation in the settings on your exchange site. If you don't see any option or cannot figure it out, then delete your key and reply here and I will look into it.

coingarden.ca is designed for people with 10 or more coins at 2 or more exchanges.

I think if you meet this requirement, you will see the benefits.

The goal of the site is to have one place with a master portfolio showing convenient groupings and their totals.

I have bitcoin at 5+ locations right now. coingarden.ca shows me just my bitcoin total converted to my favourite coin and fiat currency right now.

Watch this site. I am going to town on exchange APIs. Expect regular improvements.

please add blockchain wallet

I can not add Blockchain.info wallets directly. They do not offer a standard API for checking balances.

If I add blockchain.info API the way it is designed, I would need your master password in order to get totals. I don't want your master password right now... too much liability.

Solution: You do it manually: SIgnup on coingarden.ca with any user/pass. Click Settings. CLick "add" location. Select "manual. Select BTC. CLick Add. Select amount of BTC. CLick update. Repeat for any other coins totals you have at blockchain.info.

This solution will work, but it's not automatic like API, since you have to update totals on coingarden whenever you send/receive on blockchain.info.

Are you practicing your HTML/JavaScript lessons? Your website looks pathetic and you shouldn't be revealing it to the public at this stage. I'm glad you are open to suggestions but the interface is hideous. It will only make people go away from your site and never come back.
I agree with Joel, your website needs improvement though you are creating a very helpful free crypto portfolio. I logged in with that free demo and you really have to fix your front-end, after logging in those list of coins below is quite good and the chart above I think its need to be re-align.

I will look into the column alignment.

You said: "the chart above I think its need to be re-align"

By "chart" did you mean the "topbar" where it is white writing on a black background above everything? If so, I know that that area only looks correct on a wide monitor (+1280px)... otherwise it wraps. I don't know how to fix this, but I will look into it.

If by "chart" you meant the pie chart above the table chart... please let me know what needs re-alignment.

Thanks for the response.

I think I get it: The pie chart labels have lines which connect their name to their wedge in the pie. When I have a lot of coins, the wedges are very small and the lines become very tight and get cut off by one another.

If this is what you are referring to. I am aware. I do not have a solution without learning more about the javascript module I am using. Or there may only be a custom solution. For now, I am settling with a rainbow color coding which allows the names to be lined up based on the color of the line approaching them.

The eventual goal is to upgrade the pie charts to display more clearly and provide releavent popup information when hovering and drill down data when clicking.
Sorry if I'm late of replying to this post, yes I'm talking about the pie chart. If you don't have solution for it right now it's okay as long as you are improving and is accepting good reviews that will do.  Smiley

Thanks for the comments.

I would like it to look less hideous. But I do not have any branding theme in mind and I don't want to clutter the important data bits. I am using generic HTML 5 taken from w3cschools and a bland palette. I am not experienced in HTML or Javascript.

I designed it on a wide desktop monitor. It will look cluttered on mobile and small screens.

I am interested in hearing more about how I might improve it.

I think this is good and free, and I think it will be safe because it does not need email or contact information and others, it needs to be tried !!!

Thanks. I hope some people try it out.

I am still developing and I am open to suggestions.

I have added API support for these new exchanges over the last week:

Bibox
Bitfinex
HitBTC
Huobi
ZB.com

Is there an exchange you would like me to look into adding?
