I expect Virtualcoin won't be in the top ten for long - given the low volume, a small dump should tank the price and hence the market cap.
That is not the point tough. It shouldn’t even be there let alone go down again.
That means the math behind coinmarketcap is wrong and it should be fixed properly. Unless they do something about it, it will keep showing some weird coins time to time. This is basically a warning for them.

I thought we don't have this argument anymore but seems like this is still the case. Perhaps coingecko might be an alternative?

coinmarketcap is not reliable, because many shit coin have low buyers support but their cap is high because they have a very big supply, but they are still worthless, the algorithm that display the top listed coins there should be reworked correctly, with more filtering to show the correct top 10

I would like to see a marketcap with total coins, or coins created in say 5 years or something.
I read yesterday someone saying Zcoin was cheap, but that is hard to justify if one sees that they adopted bitcoins emission curve, but only started issuing coins recently. But, yes I agree it is silly to have virtualcoin listed so high.

Lol, VirtualCoin in the Top 10 by marketcap with only $629 in volume. Nonsense.

Note that would put Litecoin in 3rd place ahead Ripple today.

Also I think perhaps using a moving average for these values (at least volume if not also price for computing marketcap) would be best for ranking so the rankings aren't too noisy/volatile.
