Dollar as single word may be copyrighted although I didn't find any source about the word "dollar". "Steem Dollar", "Canadian Dollar" and similar differ significantly from the original word, so that I can not imagine that a copyright, if it exists, can be extended to these terms.
BTW: The thread is created in the wrong category and should be moved to the "altcoin discussion".

There are a few coins using the copyright word 'Dollar'

Steem Dollars
USDT from Tethers

It is pointless trying to use the word 'Dollar' to get people to buy into your coins. The word 'Dollar' is copyright to the private bank Federal Reserve. Unless they are bank rolling Steem or Tether, they can actually use the laws to shut down those two coins that use the word 'Dollar'.
Then why have not they done it yet? Look pal; don't get so much fixed about this word "Dollar". And when it is joined with a new word like Steem, it no more remains the same dollar. Like there is a word stick, having total different meaning, joins it with match, a new thing is created. lol
It's none of our business; let the prey and predator solve it.
