I almost held a position in Electra on the other small exchange that was trading it known as coinhouse.eu. But I changed my mind when I saw red flags.

This is completely my own theory and opinion and should not be taken as fact.

I believe that Electra coin is a scam and the people behind it used their new found coin wealth to create the coinsmarkets.com trading site. They used a lot of hyp and marketing on Twitter, Youtube, Reddit and their own Telegram chat group to make people believe they were preparing for some kind of technology release.

Their objective has been to steal as much Bitcoin from people as possible by using a mix of the fake exchange and fake tech coin/ fake hype.

The coinhouse.eu another small exchange launched recently, I do believe this is a legitimate exchange and they gave me successful withdrawal on my Bitcoins. However that exchange is very new and obviously still a risk.

Of course it's possible that Coinsmarkets is not a scam and just run by really incompetent developers, in which case it would not have been too difficult for competent hackers to break in and steal all the cryptocurrency. An occurrence that WOULD be consistent with the DDOS attacks suffered by them.

Interestingly.. I believe they had Cloudflare setup to protect the server from DDOS attacks which leads me to believe the DDOS was likely directed towards a non HTTP service running on their server.

Hackers like to DDOS sites while they conduct their attack because it makes it harder for sysadmins to login and stop the attack not to mention they would have got bombarded with customer complaints to deal with at the same time.

yes you are very very right !!!exactly !!

People seems to forget that something like this happened before for example btc-e was down for 3 months after the arrest of some of its people but yet this still return to work under another name and domain, they are wex.nz now.As long as we can see that funds are still on the wallet and are not being moved i will belive that they will comeback

How was they able to track down the btc-e owners? Just wondering if the info will help us in tracking CM owners.
Btc-e was actually a registered company with publicly known owner. No tracking was required. The owner was arrested for tax evasion, money laundering, etc. He didn't actually steal coins from his customers or scammed anyone.
He wasnt the only one involved in it but the only one that got arrested, also a lot of funds was in cold storage that people who were running the exchange had acces and could run away with it but they didnt. Its a similar situation like with coinsmarkets with a difference that btc-e was a much larger exchange with long working history behind them so its posible that owners of cm are way of their heads tech wise

Fbi did the bust, they caught some guy who had the keys for it on some beach in Greece how exactly i dont know but crypto isnt anonymous as we think it is.It all depends where exchange is located,if its in some post comunist country you can be sure that they are paying off someone to let them work but also as a guarantee that owners wont run away with money because they would end up dead in some ditch

Coinsmarkets seems to still be online here, and updated yesterday. http://185.66.140.234/news.php

Also the dev has been online Jan 20, not Jan 4th.

Do you think it's still a scam?
In as much I'll like to think otherwise, this coinsmarkets is turning out to be a big scam. There are so many means available to communicate with their customers but they chose to be silent leaving us to speculate while they're with our coins. If they have good plans it won't be so hard to see that.

The lack of communication is frightening, painful with titbits and leaves you wondering where this is going to end up. I think the lack of communication might be explained if the first language of the owner isn't English, also if he is stressed. The stress can come about from his tech saying yes boss 3 hours and you get slapped again from the failed promises. Also the pressure from any investor, lack of people to turn to with good technical ability.

I really want coins markets to be back, I liked the site, also from a financial point of view with considerable assets stuck there. It also had a great client base and kicked Colx and Electra in the nuts when it went down.

I try not to look at the site anymore Smiley seeing all different versions of cached past histories is unnerving. Plus what may appear to be a comedy of errors is just doing my head in.

Feeling for everyone involved on this one

Fact: People are locked out of their coins for over a month now.
Fact: They were allready 2 weeks in downtime when they decided to post news about the downtime.
Fact: Their official website cannot be accessed for almost a week now. Just a simple page of 'We are working on it' would have been even enough, but no.
Fact: The same message 'coinsmarketschat: Severs overload we are migrating to a new servers , please bear with us.' has been popping up in their chat over and over for a month now.
Fact: People in chat luring people into telegram and discord groups pretending to be official CoinsMarkets crew to give real time updates of coinsmarkets to con people.
Fact: Communication from official coinsmarkets people have been like zero.

Think? We are way past the thinking part. I really hope that they have been operating form the Netherlands and people have reported them so they will not get away with this.

What are the chances we'll get our coins back though, in case authorities decide to act on this?

What can i do?

Report coinsmarkets & nforce to the dutch authorities!!

for the netherlands call 0900-8844 and for outside call 0031-343578844. The more the better this is gonna work! forget the coins! just report!

I believe that's one of the best things to do now.
If they happen to read this, they might communicate to the community what's really going on, if they still have plans to return in the crypto market.
But there's high probability of them not to go back in the crypto scene because of their poor communication with their customers.
So, for those who lost their coins, big or small, just be ready to accept the worst scenario that it's already gone.

Coinsmarkets said this:

Quote
"First let us explain what is coinsmarkets , we are based on 2 investor , 1 admin , 1 coder , 2 senior support and 4 general support .

In November last year 1 of senior support left the team , It is hard enough to hire a new one , this work is based on a lot of trust , so we still waiting for correct condidat .

Now let's move to the issue , in December we experienced a lot of new users and huge volume , we were ready for double or even triple volume but in our case it was 10x +.

From here all kind of problem start with servers ,

Now add to that the last senior support remaining have some family issue and was forced to be off  most of the time .

In addition to all that there was some db corruption issue we faced due to the overload and later hosting issue.

So a lot of work to do with a lot of missing stuff.

Please understand that in exchange you can't just go and hire someone and trust him millions of dollars .

We are sorry for lack of comunication about issue we have thought that people already trust us enough , and we invested 100% of time in restoring the site .

Now issue with hosting , hosting complained about a lot of fraud report from users about our service . We find this really hard to explain , it is clear that not even a single coin has moved from our wallets , and once again we are here to stay ,

We have not even released 10% of our road map , there is a lot of new future to be added in the nearest future.

A week ago we started negoation with new host that can accept similar service , we initiated the move ,

The Database was fixed yesterday night .

Now remain to setup new servers , few fix here and there and service will be restored ,

We write our news only in coinsmarkets news section , any twitter , chat msg etc is a scam ,

Again Official Coinsmarkets message are written only in coinsmarkets news section ."

This is what they posted but I am doubting this news. They may be the second CoinGather. Now their website is no longer opening. It will display address not found.

This would be very unfortunate if CM really exited on everyone, as we are a new promising project and CoinsMarkets is currently our first and only exchange. I hope that early investors, and bounty hunters are not losing their Shekel SKL. Anyways, everyone have a blessed day and stay positive no matter what it looks like. Blessed be Smiley

There's always the chance they seriously fucked up server / data migration, started getting death threats immediately and is now just having a 7 panic attack.

Just a few weeks ago some dev wiped out 300 mill worth of ETH with a few wrong key strokes.

One look at this site's source code and the URL structures screams utter incompetence.

Then again the fact that his real identity is hard to find points to something premeditated.

Bad news either way.

Best wishes to all involved.

Yesterday, the wallets were going online(BTC, DOG, and others).

They were probably doing some tests. And, someone confirmed that they're using 4 servers. So they really did in fact buy new servers. That's probably why we're seeing 4 different notices everytime we reload the website.

idk if that scam or not because when i ask, they have software issue on moving server. Sometime you can access the site, but after some minute it will shutdown again.

But remember, first day when site was down there were white page with chat box on it and text "We expiriencing some issure, will come back online in a few hours" (or smth similar),  this day they were answering in chat box and communicated with people, but next day they ran away somewhere and didnt appear at least once here or in chat or anywhere else
Ah yeah, i remember it. Yesterday, site is online about 30 minutes (more or less) and a lot people complaining about it. They thought is back to normal but balance on wallet is not load and server goes offline again.

it doesn't matter what is going on with their servers. not important anymore! coinsmarket did have their chance to post something on twitter or any other social channel.  nothing at all! why even let them try do do their job why the guys behind it don't give a #### about the people that are supporting it!

Report it to the dutch authorities!

I believed since the beggining that CoinsMarkets will come back online soon, soon, very soon, but day by day this feeling was flying away from me.
I have a lot (in my contemplation) of funds on this exchange. Hope we will find a way to do something with this, maybe track them and call the darknet or at least share this lesson with the crypto community about such scam exchange and maybe coins (yep, i also believe that ECA connected with this situation, cause Bitafex and Coinscontrol where ECA was tradeable also were scam or at least bad exchanges and many people couldnt withdraw from there).

Only "positive" thing i've seen about CM for the last day was "testing trade orders" and that some wallets were online for a short time (bitcoin wallet also was online twice today for ~10 minutes each time). But now after all these days i'm really tired and think that CM team just making some illusions about their "migration" and want to hide tracks while some naive dudes (like me) believe that they'll come back "soon".

Look guys. It's obvious. They won't come back. NEVER.

And one more word about ECA -  i was banned on their channel after some simple questions about CMs..Just think about it everyone who still trust ECA devs.

Sry for my bad english.

Hey man

Thank you. Finally someone is speaking up. It has been TEN fucking days and CoinsMarkets is still OFFLINE.
I even got banned on the Channel of Electra. They said I spread FUD. What a joke. I didnt even blame ECA but how is this possible, that I get banned when CM is offline for TEN days (WITHOUT AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT). I even talked to an admin of ECA. Even they dont know. I think Colossus Coin XT holders got scammed too, as their token was on that website too.

I dont understand why everyone is calm. Everyone in the group just calm as fuck and no one makes news about this. We just got scammed. I am happy, that I didnt have that much ECA on CM, but there are other people with a lot of money there and its not right that NO ONE of CM speaks up.

Coinsmarkets is SCAM. THEY WONT COME BACK! Dont wait for your coins. If someone lives in Netherlands you should report this immediately to the police. There is a huge amount of money missing of so many people!!!

Hello everybody,

I want to make clear at first that i have not so much money lost at coinsmarkets but i feel fucked for the rest, i don't hate te exchange. but it looks like their is somethings not right about coinsmarkets

So what did you do with the WHOIS info of the domain
Well i've been to the address in Den haag, Surinamestraat 26 The Netherlands. on that address does live an old man with the age of 75/80 ain't no Juvo Marceles.

Please spare me the talk that they would get kidnap.

So did you get in contact with the ISP? Nforce.com ( 08-01-2018
Yes, i did! my first contact was on the phone with Nforce.com on 08-01-2018 i did talked to Nforce with the possibility of a chance that people are gonna lose their coins/money. Nforce did asked me to send a mail, and they will respond later on my questions for the community.

Also we did a report to gandi

12-01-2018

i've seen allot of post on twitter/bitcointalk/reddit that people can see their balance! but what people not look for is that their wallets are online. It's only website database information. no real balance! (unless you can provide proof)

Also i did speak with a 24 hour emergency telephone line of Nforce cause they did not respond to the mail. A worker of Nforce did admit that the coinsmarkets are hosted over there. and that he is gonna send a mail about this. I told him that this was no option and the best option for their business was to call his supervisors and get the servers down.

coinsmarkets are still working on the problem
Ok i respect your decision, but please don't ruin this topic. somebody must do something! even if we ain't getting our coins back! why don't we try to get the people...

So what you need from me?

well, what i need from everybody is the next thing!

- IF you know something, ip addresses and more please share it @ [email protected]
- share the info what you know what happend the last days with coinsmarkets.
- i think that ECA and some other exchanges/coins has something to do with coinsmarkets, IF you have any information on this please share in this topic and send to [email protected]

what are you gonna do with this information

Well, i maybe know just the right people in the netherland that can pick this up! and please spare everybody that does care about 'fake, scam and more' but maybe it's gonna work maybe it's not! but what i think? it's worth trying!

What about gandi.net

Well i did talked to them to, gandi is asking the domain owner to verify his info... cause all is fake!

Let coinsmarkets get to work! don't disturb them!

Well some people don't care anymore about the coinsmarkets anymore, please let us be! no word from coinsmarkets so the time is now that they need to respond. when they do it's not a scam!

if Nforce does read this....

even if you are not responsible, you guys are hosting the server!!! i told you from the beginning! this is not done whats happening! you guys should share some information!

final info

im tired as hell need to get some sleep, but i want to do this for the community. sorry for the bad english! & have more info but don't have the energy to set this all up right away...
I can assure you i will do tommorrow when i do have the energy and add your info! please trust me some people are gonna look at this.

ECA ( electracoin

Well they did say a time that they did have contact with coinsmarkets.... but i know from some info that all this looks strange....  all dutch... do your homework and you'll will find information...

New servers?

NO! they have just a reseller account at NFORCE!

What can i do?

Report coinsmarkets & nforce to the dutch authorities!!

for the netherlands call 0900-8844 and for outside call 0031-343578844. The more the better this is gonna work! forget the coins! just report! please forget your coins. but will you let people go with your cash? without doing nothing?

oh and by the way! if you want to get in Nforce...

cause you maybe want to ask some questions.. just call the team at +31 20 6919299 or just mail [email protected] they might be a little slow with responding
