This is really something new. This is a step that could sound good to the ears of many investors. This brings a positive impact which could lead to a global interest towards bticoin. We might see the price reaching peaks never had seen before. We will be thanking them certainly in the future.

theese ATMs are, imho, more for promotion bitcoin as a real payment instrument. Comissions are pretty big, usability - weak, but you can send your grandpa some bitcoins and even he can convert them to fiat. If there are 10 such ATM in one small city - this may be a reason for accepting bitcoins in shops or any service providers. Liquidity of crypto in real life - the next evolution step, that we need.

I've yet to see a Bitcoin ATM with fees of less than 4%.  That's very drastically higher than the amount of fees you would pay on doing a fiat transaction, which makes the point of having a Bitcoin ATM pretty much null and void.

They're basically just useful for newbies who are looking for a new experience and find a Bitcoin ATM, and criminals who don't mind paying fairly high fees.  I can't see any good reasons for other people to use them.

I've yet to come across one with lower than 7%, and with those fees it makes them really useless.

As for "criminals", good luck with that, the latest installed around here requires an id scan for both purchase/selling with one mugshot also taken when you make the exchange, so you're going to have to you ask somebody to do it (which also increases costs).

And real "criminals" who have loads of money also have the means to buy a verified account on an exchange or a fake id to create one. They will not go and load 1000 bills of 50 euros in that robot.  Smiley

DO I HAVE TO ENROLL WITH COINSOURCE BEFORE USING A COINSOURCE BITCOIN ATM?

Yes. As the world’s largest Bitcoin ATM operator, Coinsource is nationally licensed and federally regulated which requires proper ID verification of our customers. Coinsource does not share or sell any information whatsoever to 3rd parties.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?
We are expanding the Bitcoin ATM market further than it’s ever been in D.C., offering the lowest rates

Real merchant usage is important - this is nearly irrelevant.

Crypto Capital
Coinsource Installs 20 Bitcoin ATM Machines Around Washington DCCoinsource, Texas-based bitcoin ATM network, has announced its first entry into the American capital. The company will install twenty machines across the District of Columbia and Maryland, saying it received significant demand from local users and merchants. The machines will be spread in convenient locations across the area, including a dozen in Washington DC, five in Baltimore, one in Towson, one in Oxon Hill, and one in Takoma Park.

Before this development, the city already had about five machines being serviced by five different operators. Additionally, several local restaurants, bookshops, and record shops have been accepting bitcoin as payment since last year.

“We are meeting Washington D.C. at an inflection point, where regulators are looking at the value and potential of decentralized currencies and blockchain technology,” said CEO of Coinsource Sheffield Clark. “All innovation over time has passed through our Nation’s Capital in one way or another, and we are happy to be now servicing Washington D.C. and the surrounding communities so that they can have easy access to buying and selling Bitcoin.”

Additionally, Coinsource introduced eight new machines in Denver, Colorado earlier this month. Coinsource currently has 182 machines across 18 American states, plus the District of Columbia.

CMO of Coinsource, Bobby Sharp, said, “We are expanding the Bitcoin ATM market further than it’s ever been in D.C., offering the lowest rates, exclusive remote enrollment and allowing for at-home account registration. This installment is especially significant to Coinsource, as the philosophy behind decentralized currency is and has always been about giving freedom back to the people. As a company I feel that we have been able to provide financial freedom to the underbanked and unbanked, and I am happy to bring our services to D.C.”
