Basically, giving merit to other members is easy, but of course, there are some references that must be given when, for example, I give merit.

Not to members who only post shit posts, spam, or low-quality posts. There must be several criteria so that the post is worthy of getting merit.
It might be better if starting from now, you make quality, informative, different posts from the others and can be accounted for, specific information, and arranged with the right set of sentences, especially by including source links and illustrated images.

If this is done at a minimum, I am sure that many people will give merit to you.

I think that the Administration of the site is working very hard on this, since the number of users is now very actively reduced by , due to full-scale bans of accounts with different rangans. Based on this, I believe that the opportunity for new members will be given soon.

To be honest i do not think that people are ready to give it becaise of the reason that they themselve need to earn it first and i think this system has just made the ranking system stagnant although im against spamming but still i do not like this system as we talk about decentralization crypto concepts here but on the other hand we are being controlled too much here, i know majority of members support what im saying but most will still stay quite. It seems they prefer making new accounts and meriting them to abuse bounties. I've seen accounts completely unrelated with bitcoin with 100 merit only made for bounties. Obviously sold alts. Meanwhile after 3 years in btt, I've seen and wrote a lot of helpful comments that deserve merits and got none.

Yeah right, those with lots of merit should share to members like us who need them. I believe that sharing is one of the best virtue that a person must have. Sharing your merits is one way of helping people to rank up especially those who are really giving and exerting their efforts for quality posts.

I think that the merit system does not work. People do not want to give away their merits for free. The system was introduced several months ago, but there are many members on the forum that write good quality posts but do not have merites. The idea of Merit system is good because it has to improve the quality of posts, but I think that it does not work as it should.

People are probably not giving out merits because they are not receiving any and therefore they feel they would just soon finish their sMerits and never get any new one any more. I am not wanting here to state who is deserving or not deserving merits, I'm just pointing to the fact that most middle-ranked people will start to give out their few sMerits only after that they will have started to get some. That's how human psychology works. And since most of the people write only bad posts which are likely to never receive any merit, I see some problems in the circulation of merits to get traction.

It's really hard, especially English isn't our native language.
My only point is, why we need to give sMerits to legendaries like Theymos? they already on top, merits and sMerits are for high quality posts and they're not intended to the posts you're agreeing with.
There are some higher ranks are only after on busting offenses and they earn sMerit. What's the point? Busting members who did offenses are not considered as high quality posts.

In my opinion this Merit System is great . For people like me , how i used to be until i understand this Crypto World ( a spammer for a project earning tokens ) this is great. I have to admit that i was that kind of moron spamming and get tokens . Whatever , this is not the main ideea because i figured out that this won`t bring me nothing . Most everyone here has a valid point regarding the merit system. I totally agree on the repetitive threads and non-topics, which feel like a complete waste of time and effort. On the other hand, What i find truly positive about these threads are valid concernss, queries, suggestions, discussions and support. It is really heartening to see people helping, guiding each other without any personal constraint, and as such deserving of any such merit system. More than the language, which could be a problem for some, a sensible, topically valid response is what counts. So, though i empathize with the frustration of some with the merit system here, please be patient and grateful for a much better quality of posts, and continue sharing and learning in this, empathic community.

Being rewarded with merits pretty much depends on the following steps:

1. Know what merit is, and what it is good for. I can see on the overall topic, and the replies to the topic that it is only a fraction of the people commenting here, who have taken the time to read up on the topic. Go visit the main topic in the meta section.

2. Write quality posts. This thread and replies are utter crap. I always urge people to read between the lines in order to fully understand what a quality post is. In this thread it is hard to read between the lines, as shit is dripping from one line to the next.

I fully agree that more merits should be given to the high quality posting people roaming the altcoin section. Fact is though that we're hard to spot.

I agree. It will take time before they will generously give out their merits to others. Actually, I've seen a lot of quality posts here in the forum but 5 Smerits of mine is not enough to give them all. I hope others won't hesitate to give it to those who deserve it.

I also try to make usefull post but no body get merit yet, in my opinion merit system is good but some member that still in jr.member thinking this is not fair, but aim of this merit just want to increasing quality of the this forum and to be more usefull for all member.

It's a dumb system that was created because too many people are ranking up and the signature campaigns are clogged. Soon there will be merit based campaigns with big payouts and most everyone will be locked out of them.

Maybe the idea of introducing a system of merit is good, but it is not fully realized. I think that a very high amount of merit is established, which must be obtained for the transition from one rank to another. For example, to move from a full member to an older one, it is now necessary to collect 150 merits. Previously, it took about 130 days of relevant activity on this forum, that is, somewhere around 4.5 months. Now it is not realistic to get 150 merits in 4.5 months, no matter how hard they try to write their constructive messages. Therefore, it is unequivocal that the introduced system of merits will significantly slow down the advancement of forum participants in ranks, and perhaps, and make such advancement almost impossible. This is still beneficial to the older members, the heroes and the legendary.

I don't think they will give it as free. Maybe some using it for trading. Example, they will give you 1 merit for exchange of some coin / money. It was my opinion because if they do to give out merit for someone who needed it like us, I will be thankful but truth is, I don't know why they don't give some especially those who achieved the higher rank that no more need merit to level up Sad

This things happen now of giving a merit to those member who having a good post in the forum,is a strictly compliance of this community,but sometimes other use this oppurtunity as a part of there rocket bussiness,they sell there merit in a certain amount of value ,they exchange it a fiat.so that why sometimes i put in my mind that this merit is advantage only those have a highest rank in this forum,and we from the bottom is needed that whos person give to us merit,and asking for those generous heart who give to us.

This is the main reason why the forum are getting more strict,shitposters should be penalized or the best would be a permanent ban.It pollutes the entire community here in bitcointalk,joining signatures even they cant have any constructive posts.Now asking and begging for merits? you do not deserve to have merits you need a redtrust because your post is completely non-sense.

I think the whole idea of merit is that merit should be earned, not just given. That is the big difference between merit score and post count. You will reach post count regardless of your post quality, but merit score is far difficult.

I agree, people should give their merits to people who needs them especially the junior members and members so that they maybe able to rank up. All users with members to hero or legenray rank has the ability to merit one person or many people. Please give us your merit so that we could also level up. Let's work one another.

Maybe if you guys wrote something that was clever, funny, or otherwise interesting you'd get some merit points. There's no way in hell I'm giving out merit to one-line shitposters after everything I've done in the last few weeks. Write something good, something original. Make me laugh. Make somebody else laugh.

The other thing is that you might have a better chance getting merit points on the local boards, where the nuances of language aren't lost on your fellows. People who can't write English here usually write stuff that no one wants to read--mainly because it was written in order to satisfy a campaign with minimum character quotas. All of that shit is ridiculous and you shouldn't expect to earn merit that way.

Since you do have many merits I'd like to ask you how you feel about being made to reward others for their posts? I'm not sure I fully understand the reasoning behind giving merits so that posters can rank up. why were some given many while others not so much. I dont mean to sound negative as I just am asking your views and take as you have many you are holding.

Not really sure if this is the correct thread to make the post.
However, again, The Merit function is pretty new to the system and it will take a while before people realize how and when to use it. As of now, people who are really active in the Meta thread are having the most active participation in the merit system, but they are everywhere.
The best way to get some merit will be to start making constructive and knowledgeable posts. You can also end your post with the PS, to ask for merit if the post helped them in anyway.

It will take some time but it will really reduce the number of scammers with multiple accounts to come down and not to grow their rank.
