Thanks for this clue as it seems to solve alot of problems for me. I have to test it to see how it work but I don't known if this will work if the preview tab have not been clicked as I remember that the preview button is what will make the text automatically saved as draft.
That's good if you always hit that "Preview" button but for someone like me who keep forgetting doing it, it really can't help 😅. But yeah, hitting the back button works for me, i use a mouse like this image below with that back button.

It's really annoying when we forgot to copy the text, but we've reload the page, so we will lose all the text that have been written.
You can recover those unposted reply/text tab using back button (for desktop) even if you refresh the page, this only works if you didn't clear cache your browser or your browser does not set to automatically clear cache after N time, and only for non-TOR browsers.

It's funny that you came here only to say that commenting on old posts give you that error, which obviously is related to browser not related to the forum but I want to know that what makes you bump old posts? And you think that bumping very old posts will make any sense?
You should know that newbies will always do things like this because some of them are yet to fully understand how the forum works. When I joined the forum, I also faced challenges about board to post.

Those who actively commented on those posts back then might not be part of the forum anymore and there's chance that your bump post will get deleted if a moderator founds it or someone reports it. So I believe you should not try to comment on old posts and if you like the forum then keep commenting on new posts.

Do you by any means leave your window tab for long before replying? Usually while replying post like you need to preview after which it will disappear, I think had witnessed something like this.
I also receive an error message too, but I forgot with the explanation. Cheesy

You don't need to refresh page I think you just need to preview the page then everything will be off, if you refresh page you have to lose all your already written text inside the reply box. Yes is true that we can't recall to screenshot or copy out the text but I guess it's not something very bad to us while replying the post.

A new reply to an old thread/topic will (necro-)bump the old thread back to top of recent activity. This may be totally valid and intentional, but the poster should be aware of this and if the current reply is beneficial to the old thread.
@OP is asking about error message, not asking if it's good or not to bump an old topic, after all it's up to every user whether he want to bump old thread or create new thread. The moderator will take action if someone break the rules.

Users who are about to reply sometimes aren't aware or pay attention if their answer is of any relevance to an old topic. Does it make sense to reply regarding the past timeline? Are users still active to whom you respond?

It's easy to oversee time and date and if participants of a discussion thread are still active (the BPIP browser extension helps a bit to spot inactive users where a response may not make much sense or you can't expect any more answers if you ask inactive users).

Base on my experience I just recieved this kind of message when it took me for many minutes before taking the reply or creating the thread which is prompted this in the upper box of the navigation buttons, but in terms of old post you can still post it you can provide what kind of post you want to comment so people can check what are wrong with your concern. If that's an old post there's a different prompt of message right there which is the thread is like 120 days old and making you question if you would like to comment.

But must times it often show on a topic that has remained inactive for 4 months to 1 year while replying it will give you a warning messages that the said topic has been 120 days without reply.. something like this I guess so.

Hmm, that's not a big problem, you can comment on the old posts normally ...
You can't normally comment there as there's a prompt will display that you're replying a very old post and you should create another thread if necessary, somethin like that phrase. But yes, you can still comment if you proceed.

Thanks for guiding him and others, but seems like I've already explained it in my above post even though it's in between the words my words clearly indicate that scenario. For the rest seems like OP is not facing this scenario, there are some other types of prompts that you might face let me mention the most recurrent ones here with an edit.

i have been using google search to search for questions i want to know and the results are post from years ago.
Be guided that this is a Bitcointalk forum where perspective ideas are shared based on individual knowledges pertaining Bitcoin. We only seek google consent at when I doubt of the informations shared here per individuals. So, by intensive scenarios of clearer thoughts, you may search the google off the forum.

So, know it that when you search over the forum, you literally are not search on google as the platform on it own is a raw web where we learns and shares informations within our selves which google is exemptional.

i tried commenting or quoting someone and it gave me this massage "Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again." what does this message mean?
I read all through the replies as they are not much to see if you have been satisfied with the users guides but you have not made it known that you have been satisfied.
So, I think you should show drop a screenshot let us see better of what you are going through.
You might also had been trying to post or boards that you as a newbie is being restricted in the main time.
Alternatively could be your browsers issues.

Knowing that you have created their account for years before this day, I also suggest that there is possibilities by which you might have logged the account in on more than one device and unfortunately that either the other device is where the account is still active which might also obstruct your active login in of your other device.

So I would suggest you make change of password to remain clean with your account Privacies and check out on boards you are posting if eligible as a newbie just in the main time.

When something is closed for years and we don't use it, and after years when we open it, there are a lot of changes and a lot of new material, that's why we are asked for authentication if properly authenticated. then this problem is solved, sometimes it happens that old things cannot be opened or sometimes it also happens that  Your account should be permanently disabled.

Because accounts that are not opened and used for years are put on the list of dead accounts and many are closed when trying to re-open and do not dissolve. Same with Google accounts. The problem is the same with Facebook accounts and accounts on other sites that become inactive after being closed for years.

So, it's possible that the message or old you are trying to post in belongs to a dead account that has been deactivated, hence the post is only visible but it can't be updated anymore.

You have an account from 2016, you recently woke up and changed your password, is this account yours? If so, I don't know where you've been for nine years, but things happen; maybe it's time to update your browser or at least clear your cookies. What's bothering you was bothering users back in a time you joined the forum. A lot has changed while you were asleep.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/session-verification-failed-error-1092878

Yes this is account is mine. I made this years ago without the intention of posting but just reading in the forum. There was a forum site before that is similar to bitcontalk.org that I was using and someone recommended this site for me.

I made another account just a few days ago and remembered I have already made an account before. So I decided to try and recover it since I still have the email that I used. From what I know there is no rules that indicates I can't have multiple accounts.
Did you successfully recovered your account? As post above indicate that usually it won't happen unless you stay on page for too long. I stay in this thread for too long and when I tried to quote the above and that's what actually display (same as yours) and after refreshing the page solved the problem. Anyway, if you did recover your old account then try posting to the same thread and using the same device (I was thinking that it may have been the browser you have used). Why don't you try provide the link of the thread itself to see if we could also face same problem as yours.

This types of issues is happened to every user here and the main things that is causing it is that, is when a person stay long for the page and definitely left the page open anything time he came to access to that page he have to refresh before starting posting or whatever, and if a person is already in the post page already and he has never finish up and something very important or emergency across the best thing to do is that is to preview your post to avoid delete your post when coming back to continue from where you stop.

I see no reason why an old post should be brought back to live after several years of inactivity, instead it is more better to quote an aspect and include on the intended post or thread elsewhere, another thing is about the searching pattern or keywords used, there may not be a particular match on the search phrase or sentence, as some already have said, its more better you clear the browser cookies as well.

Everyone has confirmed that the issue is with your browser and not the time the thread was created.
I do not know the parameters google uses for their algorithm because searching topics on bitcointalk through google may not always give you the most recent or accurate results. When posting make sure you look at the date of the last post on the thread so you do not bump an inactive thread.

Hmm, that's not a big problem, you can comment on the old posts normally the issue you are trying to mention may have something to do with your internet connection or browser, you can post on any old post and try again by refreshing the page or you can go for re-login option. If you are trying to post on a topic that has been inactive for a long time, you may get an option to start a new topic rather than bumping it again.

This is not an error message related to the age of the topic you're trying to reply. The message you should get for an old dormant thread is this one : Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days. Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.
It's just a warning message, because necroposting is not strictly prohibited by the forum rules but it's not recommended either and your post could be deleted by a moderator if he doesn't think it's a substantial and relevant comment.

This particular message is usually displayed when you have stayed in a page for long without taking any action. I sometimes experience it too especially when I open a page and then minimize to do another task either in browser or outside the browser.

Simply refresh the page and continue if your internet connection is not interrupted. If it doesn't work, you should try update your browser as suggested by others.
Everyone here has experienced it that we have all gotten use to it and know what to do once it happens or better still how to prevent it from happening. I just say "damn" whenever it happens and hit on the refresh or reload button after which the user can continue to enjoy their business on the forum. But why doesn't this happen on other platforms or forums being powered by the SMF?

The problem is on your browser. You need to hard reset your browser or just update it to the new version.

Be careful on bumping old thread since you might be necro bumping especially if your question is already on answered on the previous pages. You should attached the specific question here so that users can answer it already while you are solving your issue with your browser since this board is dedicated to help users in need.

It's probably caches or cookies, have you tried it again? it should be not a big deal because sometime it also happened to me, I'm just refresh the page and click it again, there's no more such errors.

Looking at your rank and your activity, it seems you're clicking enter too fast when you want to make a post because newbie rank need to wait for few minutes between each post.

i tried doing it twice and it still showed the same message. i don't think its because of that because it didn't even let me go to the page where i can type what i want to post. it just goes on another page with that message on it.
To cut the crab just delete your browser. You might be using an old version that fully supports the forum website. Delete the browser, download an updated version or a different browser. Then sign in and perform your actions. If it persists then change the phone or device you are using to browse.

Session verification is hardly a response for just having to drop a comment on an old post. In fact, the meaning is laced to the letters as, you might have taken too long to type and send a response.
The default message you should have gotten is a warning about you having to post a reply on a thread that haven’t been posted in for a long time.
It doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have to, it just highlights that, the action your about to take has to be one that should be considered to be of absolute necessity else, it’s good you start a thread.
Perhaps, having to quote the response your interested in and make an engagement of it.

It is not related to your Google on old or new post.

I changed the name of the cookie. Does that fix it?

If Brave is blocking PHPSESSID cookies, then that's definitely broken behavior on their end. PHPSESSID is not some sort of tracking cookie; it's used for PHP's session management feature.
