Why would someone want to buy some art for a stranger?

I like the idea, for me it would be Thymos, or the person who made the current BTC "the unknown hero behind BitcoinTalk".

Still it would be such official, but I like the community here and still, our community is big part of the BTC system.

It's not really the type of thing people would scam on. As long as he proves that he is in possession of the art and that he's the artist it would be incredibly stupid to scam rather than just selling the art. One scam versus multiple sales...

I don't think 1 feedback makes you trustable. Good luck with whatever you're trying to do here though.

The question is why would you want to do this or why would anyone trust you? This seems a bit weird.

You missreed something. Painting is to be bought by community and sent to specific organization or individual.
For example, I'd provide BTC address and once coin received reach threshold painting would be sent to Bitcoin
Foundation, Gavin Andresen or someone else, it is up to you people to decide. Of course, I am perfectly fine
with more then 1 painting sold. Here is the short list of potential painting recipients, freely suggest more please:

Bitcoin Foundation
Coindesk
Blockchain.info
Bitstamp
Huobi
BTC Guild
Eligius

Wladimir J. van der Laan
Gavin Andresen
Jeff Garzik
Gregory Maxwell
Nils Schneider
Pieter Wuille
Luke-Jr
theymos
John K.
Meni Rosenfeld

Would it be easier if I just provide massive recipients list and assign BTC address for each entry on that list?

z.k.

This is an interesting idea, buying someone or some group a painting on behalf of the community.

I'd imagine organizing such a thing might be tricky as deciding who should get the painting(or paintings) might be hard.

Idea is flawed as "someone" can not be "community".
I'm guessing that you send painting (dont know what it is as i didint read original thread), to some kind of institution...like museum, or art gallery, or wherever where it could be seen by large number of people...that would be "sending it to community".

Hi

I was thinking lately to propose a community-purchase for one of my paintings but I'm stuck (re)thinking how
exactly should it be done and who should be proposed as a receiver of painting in question. I have checked
around and it seems Bitcoin Foundation is not really cheered by everyone here. The same goes for almost all
aspects of Bitcoin system so I need a bit of help. Please post who do you think should receive one of paintings
purchased by Bitcoin community, if such idea would work in the first place and eventualy what painting is your
favourite. Thanks in advance!

My official thread is at https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/if-you-missed-to-buy-physical-in-2013-you-have-a-chance-to-buy-digital-in-2023-361155

Below is a short list of recipients with BTC address assigned to each of them. Once bitcoins received at some
provided BTC address hit the price tag of 375 USD (cheapest paintings and average cost of delivery worldwide)
I'll contact coresponding person or organization to arrange painting selection and delivery. Person or organization
can opt to wait for more bitcoins to be sent to their coresponding BTC address in order to later pick bigger and
more expenssive painting. If person or organization decide to not pick any painting ever then all received bitcoins
will be sent to them or recipient of their choice. You can think of this as a fundraiser with an option to purchase
painting instead of receiving bitcoins. Any bitcoins received after person or organization make a decision about
outcome of their deal (pick some painting, receive bitcoins or donate them) will be kept by me as donation.

Feel free to suggest more recipients, publicly or via PM. Questions are welcomed but I will not respond to stuff
like "What is this?", "How can we know you will not scam bitcoins?" and similar questions. If by now you don't
know who I am and what I'm normaly doing on this forum please do some research (check link above for a start).
