Hi @smho_16,

i3-6100 is nice 4 mining equihash (-t 3 when using gpu),
2 be honest,
I do not know how RX-460 competes
2 RX-470 or -480,

but I would give it a try.

... good Luck !

A 460 is not a good option for GPU mining. go with a RX 470 or a 480.
And you can cut the CPU down, there's no need for an i3, or for 8GB of RAM.

If you are talking about bitcoin mining, then no. You cannot meaningfully mine bitcoin with a GPU today. If you are talking about altcoin mining then you are posting in the wrong section so I will help you by moving your post.

After failing to set up a solar panel fueled antminer now I move on to my next challenge, this one is a whole lot more achievable.

I have (or it will be finished after 2 weeks) built this PC for GPU mining.

1. Core i3 6100
2. SSD Toshiba 120 GB + HDD 250 GB (I Know this is not important but just to tell you everything)
3. G.Skill 8 GB DDR 4 RAM 2400 Mhz
4. Corsair PSU 550 VS
5. Case: Not decided yet but it will be a well ventilated Mid-tower from Thermaltake or CoolerMaster
6. RX 460 as GPU

I choose this because when I saw mining calculator for Ethereum, I see that RX 460 has 15 Hash and in the end it can give me a profit of about 60-62 USD per month.

My electricity cost is 0.15 USD per K/watt.

I choose RX 460 as GPU because maximum it consumes is about 83 Watt when is on full power. Also the Core i3 6100 in extreme conditions and maximum power it consumes 65 w. SSD, RAM and HDD are all handpicked and almost 0 watt consuming.

I think I am building a perfect GPU mining rig (well GPU will be replaced as many times as needed because it may be worn out from mining but RX 460 cost in Italy is 140 Euro so no problem).

Have I done everything right or I am only dreaming here is my question to you ?

Edit: I didn't knew my real energy cost and now it's more than double so I think this is not profitable at all , damn you Italy, damn you , always going down and more down in every aspect. In fact we are the only country which to pass a law from the small senate room and up to the big one takes an eternity. I think migration is the only option left for us here
