Can anyone confirm my transaction?  The seller didn't include a fee, so I was thinking I could send someone a small fee for the confirmation.  Can that even work?

Trying to rebroadcast the transaction as explained here http://blog.blockchain.com/2014/07/08/tutorial-how-to-rebroadcast-a-bitcoin-transaction/ got "Transaction Already Exists" which should only appear if transaction already confirmed...

Tx is not yet confirmed. But, it is of high priority 245,136,187 which is bigger than the required 28,800,000.

Great, that doesn't sound good at all.  Could I ask the person who sent it to me to resend it, or is that not possible?

No, that is not possible unless the Tx expires and get deleted from mempool, which probably takes around a week.

According to mempool.info, this transaction can be confirmed without a fee.

The transaction outputs are all above 0.01 BTC, implying that the transaction should be free. This will depend on miner policies.

Yes, but might take a long while until the transaction gets confirmed(better don't do it if you are in a hurry).

Also, like you said, it depend on miner policies, so no way to predict how long it will take

So, I could send it to another address in my wallet and include a decent size fee?  That sounds like it could be a winner.  It's almost been 2 hours and still waiting for the first confirmation.  Maybe I'll wait another hour and then try your suggestion.

There's no guarantee that it'll work. It will only help if there are mining pools that have implemented "child pays for parent" and are looking ahead to see that they can get the fee by confirming both transactions together (it's impossible to confirm the fee paying transaction until/unless the free transaction is confirmed).

Even if the two transactions get confirmed after you send the fee transaction, it's possible that the transaction would have gotten confirmed at that time anyhow.  There's no way you'll know.

Best case: A pool that has implemented "child pays for parent" confirms your transaction sooner than it would have confirmed without the second transaction.

Worst case: The first transaction confirms on it's own eventually, and you've wasted the fee by creating the second transaction that didn't help you at all.

I'm a little worried, because last time I sent an unconfirmed transaction, it was a major problem.

I'm not certain, but I believe I've read that some mining pools have implemented "child pays for parent".

You can try using coin control if your wallet provides such features and sending the address balance to a new bitcoin address while including double the normal fee in that transaction.  That should result in your new transaction paying a large enough fee to pay for both transactions and should provide incentive for any mining pool that has implemented "child pays for parent".

It will probably be confirmed very soon, I don't think you have to worry about it.
