To answer your question op, currency only has value if it is accepted by someone else besides yourself. So to be safe stick to the currencies that are widely accepted.

Every man his own currency you may think in these modern times...and even more confused when sites like XAPO offers collective Wallet and sites like BitMixer offers a Wallet of mixed coincurrencys.
Can someone please explain how to act with these to be on the safe side?
PS XAPO adress is not accepted everywhere.

for anonimity bitmixer give you more defends from tracker or some one want to know who are you,
for simple mixing u can use xapo to mixing your bitcoin, also u can use it for your cold wallet /cold storage

for better security u can use blockchain for your wallet, but not anonimity easy to track who are you and who receive money for you

For super better security u can use blockchain core to keep your bitcoin Wink

Kiss  Thanks for kind replies, I think it will be best to hw download my coins using your suggestions. I have no problem to trust a bitcoin company though. It all builds on trust I think. But if other companies does not accept XAPO Wallet then whats the use.

you can go with blockchain.info, if you do not like local client for your coins, but i would suggest to use a local client like electrum, armory, or just Core

Yes i also would like to suggest blockchain.info 's online wallet for hot storage if you want to use for instant transaction than that is good choice for online storage, for cold storage electrum and core are most secure wallet.

But what are you trying to do with your coins? Do you seek online wallet or do you need bitcoin mixer? If you are a newbie then I doubt that you need online wallet with the ability to store various coins.
It is only needed when you are trading them and you need your coins stored in one place. If I were you I would download standard software bitcoin wallet and store my coins there. It's the safest way.

Which 'standard' wallet would you recommend?

I started with Multibit, and I stayed with them. Even if I tried other programs, and have BTC on cloud-mining sites, I/it all goes back to Multibit.

If you want to have a "safe" wallet...download one like Bitcoin Core, check it with an updated antivirus, install it...then make a backup and save your pwd & private keys on a sheet of paper (keep it on a safe far from PC). It should be safe enough for most users.

And, if you don't have time to download the Blockchain. Use MultiBit, it's even faster Cool

XAPO is to have an online wallet that you can access from everywhere and use your bitcoins with credit card

Bitmixer is used to unlink bitcoin from original address (that may be related to you)

Both Bitmixer and Xapo are services that require 3rd party trust. Bitmixer are in general coin mixing services are centralized and require that you trust they will not keep logs and hand logs when asked, which is why Bitcoin needs a better solution for anonymity than that.
Xapo is a way to basically give your coins to them so they can keep them safe.

It's all a matter of who you trust more to be safe: yourself or others?

are you confused or trying to confuse others?

Every man his own currency you may think in these modern times...
use another translator!

and even more confused when sites like XAPO offers collective Wallets and sites like
what exactly do you mean by collective wallets?

BitMixer offers a Wallet of mixed currencys.
bitmixer doesn't offer a wallet! and it only mixes bitcoin not currencies.
you put in your bitcoin and receive your bitcoin from mixture of addresses to cover your track and keep your anonimity

Can someone please explain how to act with theese to be on the safe side?
as i said i think you need a better translation, or you can use the local threads for your native language.

You are getting these points wrong.

Xapo is a Switzerland-based company that provides a bitcoin wallet combined with a cold storage vault and a bitcoin-based debit card. (from Wikipedia) and Bitmixer is a mixing service wherein you mix your coins in different wallets so as to conceal any traces of you and where the bitcoins will be after the mixing process. To simply explain this, Xapo is a wallet provider and Bitmixer is a service to help you cover the traces of your spending.

A mixer is also good if you are super rich, and don't want your money associated with your address (to avoid being a hack target for instance).

Unfortunately I do not have this problem.

I think that online wallets are pretty safe, but if you have anything more than 2-3 btc I would seriously look in to getting a HW wallet.  I like the ledger, and they even have a pretty cheap version for ~15$.  But to me it depends on how much funds you have because at some point you don't have enough to bother with all of the super high tech security measures.

If you're referring on how to act with online wallets... Don't use them Wink You can use them for small quantities, but remember: the coins you deposit there aren't yours.
