It is so funny because it's true.

But know that the majority of people who came in Bitcoin land after 2015 were of the same type the congressman described. So I believe there's more than "a dozen".

We need to look in the mirror and see if we are that type and appropriately change our thinking about Bitcoin.

Not only that, I believe there are other worse types of the same vein as "we are going to be millionaires if we hold long enough".

He did say "a few dozen men in my district" so I'd guess that might be an exaggeration. I'd say it's funny because it's a stereotype and stereotypes only work when there's an element of truth in them.

I guess he is a hater type, also he has no interest in learning new things - very sad! well, a lot of people can't embrace the change and they just perish in time.

One of them could very well tell that to a paid prostitute. let them jump on their mistresses and wives as long as they are not doing it to make more beggars to raise them for Bitcointalk signature and bounty campaigns. where is the next Bitcoin future when we need them most?

Politicians are not crypto currency experts. They say, "Opinions is like Assholes, everyone has one."

You could argue about the ass. would you say that her ass

Is the same as his?

It is true that Bitcoin does make people make a lot of money. I think that if you can make money and you don’t break the law, then even if you are nude at home every day, it doesn’t matter. ICO has certain risks, but not all ICOs are useless, and at least some projects can bring economic benefits.

the fund raising through ICOs is flawed to begin with and the people doing it don't need to get paid to copy paste some code and create a new token. NONE of them are good. they just make promises, create some imaginary problem and try fixing it and during that ask for money to do it!

show me one of the thousands of ICOs in past year or so which have done something now. some old one for example that solved one of those imaginary problems and actually returned some "product" and i'll believe you.

This is so funny. Lol.

Though this kind of thinking is wrong in every angle referring to those lazy people saying they will be millionaires. I am into BTC but I don't forget my duty for my country and working on my career. Life isn't just about money but rather a sense of achievement.
Probably right, even if we are here in this crypto community    at least we didn't forget our role in the society. What we usually do is still a part of our daily routine.Being with bitcoin is an additional task but lest we never forget our responsibilities of of being a part of the society.Although many bitcoiners have already gained high profit in it and has live life in a wealthy way,i just thought that sitting in their chairs could make them satisfied with their life, maybe they just feel the moment to enjoy the benefit of crypto but truly its not about money but still working with having wealth is all about self worth.

"Cryptocurrencies are a crock," Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) said to kick off his opening remarks. "They allow a few dozen men in my district to sit in their pajamas all day and tell their wives they're going to be millionaires."

The good congressman didn't have to be so hurtful about it. I believe that statement has hit the nail on the head, has stabbed the dagger in the heart, has hit the grand slam, . Hahaha!

LOL. there are thousands of people doing the same thing with Stocks market, Forex market, and lots of other markets. that is where the day trading name comes from, bitcoin market and the number of people doing what this idiot congressman described is so small that they are negligible.

so with his logic, all the Stocks, Currencies like USD, Gold, Silver,... are "crocks" too.

The congressman is speaking about things he don't understand. As well as his friends in pajamas (or in pants and socks) are sitting and waiting with a bottle of a beer when they become millionaires. They don't even think that to gain crypto profit you should work hard and analyse crypto market every hour. So yes he is right, there is a dozen of such guys, because others don't sit.

He totally got it wrong. See, everything doesn't just revolve around money. There are things that people do to fulfill their soul. BTC serves its purpose  and so do people need BTC to get them to their end goal. Man this congressman is a total wreck living off people's tax money.

"Put the final nail in the coffin". LOL.

But to be honest, there's some semblance of truthfulness on the Rep. Sherman's statement. I mean how many of us, specially during the December frenzy thinks that we can all be millionaires? Who stay late at night, probably in pajamas in front of his computers staring at the price of bitcoin and hoping that it will go above $20,000? Exactly, almost all of us. So as the saying goes, "the truth hurts", specially as to what has happened after that faithful December rush. Unless we become strategic on investing our money, we, specially newbies can be burned or murdered and that dream of being millionaires is totally thrown out of the window.

There's absolutely nothing wrong in telling your wife or partner that one is going to be a millionaire from Cryptocurrency but taking zero action to actualizing this wish is what is wrong.

On the other, this paints a true picture of the current crypto ecosystem. People are becoming less interested about the practical use cases and success of a Crypto project and more interested in how fast they can dump the coin/token the moment it hits the exchange before they move to the next project they can dump. ICOs are churned out daily with many being copy-cats of previous projects, shit exchanges get hacked e.t.c All this to a non-crypto enthusiast is a sign of confusion and lack of seriousness.

Brad Sherman is kinda right, but he talks about "a few dozen men",not about a few thousand or a few million.
Everyone is free to do whatever he wants with his own life.If he wants to sit all day long, waiting for btc to hit the moon, then i don`t see any problem. If some "lazy" people are smart enough to invest and become millionaires without going to a nine-to-five job, then politics like Sherman have to shut up.

Politicians are not crypto currency experts. They say, "Opinions is like Assholes, everyone has one." and this is very applicable to these kinds of statements. You get opinions that are backed by research and then you get unsubstantiated drivel like this.

The definition of drivel can also be, " let saliva or mucus flow from the mouth or nose. " in this case, we have political bullshit flowing from the mouth. ^lol^
