I would like to connect My Coinomi wallet to Metamask so i can use those decentralized exchanges. I am confused on what to do.

If your only problem of trying to connect to Metamask is in order to use decentralised exchanges, you can safely do that even on Coinomi without moving away from the app. Just go to overview and click on those three lines up there on your left as I assume you are using an android phone. Click on the lines and it will open up sections where to find "exchanges and Dex, and DApps also. You can proceed from there.  Although I have not used Coinomi for dex trading but I believe it will be okay.

People still use this coinomi? I lost some assets using this wallet weeks ago I still haven't figure out how the wallet got compromised.
You probably;

1. Had your seeds or private keys leaked
2. Have malware on your device.

If coinomi had a problem or was stealing people's assets. You would already know by now, as it would have been allover the news.

Coinomi is  decentralized wallet (as they claim),
It's a closed source wallet, I don't know if this goes hand in hand with decentralization. They (the owners) can choose to do anything with it. Maybe the word you were looking for is a noncustodial wallet.

Coinomi is  decentralized wallet (as they claim), if your wallet gets hacked it means several possibilities:
- Your seed/private key phrase backup has been leaked.
- someone access your device directly.
- you are basically using a fake app.
- keylogger virus (but I haven't heard of this case in a long time)

1. The coinomi app has an inbuilt option for DApps and NFTs. All you have to do is navigate to NTFs or DApps and then select on of the DApps you want to use like Uniswap and connect the wallet.

2. You can connect your coinomi wallet to any DApps that supports wallet connect.

You don't have to use metamask.

Take note it is not safe to use both wallets with the same seed phrase it's risky. You can use them both but I suggest make a new wallet on Metamask and backup the generated seed phrase and just transfer/send your coins through Coinomi to Metamask wallet. It would be more safer than using only one seed phrase on both wallet.

If your purpose is to have a wallet that supports more coins like Coinomi you can try Hardware wallets like Ledger Nano or Trezor wallet they support more coins and Metamask supports hardware wallet so you don't need to use the same seed to use Metamask you just need to connect your hardware wallet and set up it on Metamask. You can then able to trade on decentralized exchanges without security risks.

There are some guides you can see on the internet but you can also use the Coinomi live support chat to get more accurate answers. You will probably get the same answer that nakamura12 provided.

Why would you want to do this anyway? Are the fees too high for you that you're willing to risk security of your wallet? I'd rather send ETH to a newly created metamask wallet instead of importing private keys.

You only need to import your wallet to metamask. In order to do that is to get your seed phrase in order to get your private key which is needed to be imported in metamask if there is no option to import your wallet using seed phrase. To get your private keys then you can visit this site and make sure to follow the guide https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009717-. It is shown in there that you can save the HTML of the site in order to use it offline. Before that, try to use newly created coinomi wallet first if you are not sure or feel safe about the process.
