It's a large DDoS.

You sure its not just the thousands of Filipinos and Indonesians logging on for their sig shift? Grin

On a serious note, do you have any stats on where the traffic comes from to this site? Would be interesting to see.

Sounds guilty here. LOL I want to see it too. Like especially how many Pinoys are logging in every day.

Yep, i had trouble reaching the forum today.

Now it seems fine again but in the morning it was constantly timing out and pages were unreacheable most of the time. There were some times when it was accessible, only with a window of a few minutes, however.

If an admin can put an end to this, it would be nice.

Forum was unaccessible most of the day today, always Request Timed Out.
Now it's back to normal, hope those DDos attacks will be prevented in the future.

Any idea how long this one will last?

I have a serious login problem from yesterday, hope it will be stopped as soon as possible...

I laughed harder than I should've haha  Cheesy.
Today was to only day I experienced problems loading the site. Sometimes it just didn't load at all or took a while to load up. But if I tried multiple times I sometimes got through, that would comfirm it was a ddos attack at the time. I've never experienced a ddos on here, but as long as the servers are fine I am not too worried about it.
When I'm writing this everything is back to normal.

Has anyone here also experienced a slow, sometimes unresponsive bitcointalk? I've had this problem for well over a week now and I don't know what could be the root cause of it. I have 20 Mbit/s down 10 Mbit/s up connection and other sites load just fine but when it comes to bitcointalk, it always says it's busy or it doesn't send any data.

Ran a traceroute earlier and apparently too many RTOs before I get to bitcointalk. Is there a problem within the server or is it just my connection?

Code:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I seldom use VPNs when browsing this forum and it's nothing serious but I think it's cool to let others know about this. Thanks.

I am having the problem now, The website just keep loading after several minutes its says connection timed out.
My internet speed is 10 MB's down and 10 MB's up rate. Is this only me or everyone is facing the problem now?

P.S: I have not faced such problem yesterday.

Edit: Don't we have Cloudflare or some type of protection?

Most of the day, I couldn't access Bitcointalk (like yesterday). But when I check http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/bitcointalk.org, it says "It's just you. bitcointalk.org is up.".
Does that mean the DDOS cuts off traffic from certain geographical areas only?
It probably could, but usually it doesn't. If the website isn't completely down (which is the case here), and depending on the type of attack, some requests may be going through while others aren't. Therefore, checking whether BTCT is up for everyone is not going to be reliable.

What can be done to decrease its effect, should I stop using the forum for a day. Will It help other users to get access more easily?
Not really, no.

It's disgusting, I have to wait for minutes to get access to a single page. How much time we have to suffer from it, any ideas? What can be done to decrease its effect, should I stop using the forum for a day. Will It help other users to get access more easily?

So it is back that this forum is attacked by DDoS and this time with full force. So did it got affected to only site getting slow down or something serious damage have been happened.
DDoS doesn't usually do anything on its own other than make resources unavailable by exhausting them.  Therefore, I doubt that any *serious* damage was caused unless other attacks were executed as well.

It's a large DDoS.
That's what I expected indeed.

Pages have barely been loading for me since today only, the rest of the week it worked fine.
Now it varies from "performing a TLS handshake" to "busy try again (504)". And in between I can post.

Yes i do OP.

No troubles with connection problems to the board this week.
The past 15 minutes i was getting this error., ERR_CONNECTION_RESET

The same here, it's very slow, and sometimes not responsive at all.

Just want to say I am having problems too, but only just about 30mins ago. Everything was fine all week and the problem just started when I got back today.

Anyway, theymos has already said it's a large DDoS, so probably everything will be fine in a few hours.

yesterday and today.
but right now is the worst in my opinion.
because it had been happened to me for 2 hours, and after 15 minutes i can get the access.
i try to use my VPN,still got same result .
used singapore,us and others country IP but did not get an access to the site.
which mean the problem was not in my connection but instead the server.
or i do not know what is going on.

I've been both getting that and SSL interference errors yesterday and occasionally in recent times.

Ran a traceroute earlier and apparently too many RTOs before I get to bitcointalk. Is there a problem within the server or is it just my connection?
I can't say anything about the whole week, but yesterday was definitely a server side issue that has affected multiple people.

I'm quite certain that this is not my connection. It's true that there had been some issues on our internet line (from the Philippines) to Hong Kong, which is a gateway to western countries as well but the issue has been fixed as stated by our ISP. Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing this lol, and it's getting annoying as time passes by. Oh well, theymos just needs to flick some switches and hopefully everything gets sorted out.
