I have to say I'm one of those who posted it but not to brag mate, actually a lot doing this. But only few criticizing them for their post. It's not their fault to get merit for what they post. Also how can you blame those who merits this kind of post if they just appreciate what the poster said?

I generally don't care about for what posts others get merit and how much, and even in this situation this is not the case - the problem is that such kind of meriting creates incentive for repetitive and low-effort threads that clog this board, thus preventing valuable threads from being visible. There's a larger problem here that this board is viewed as some sort of merit-farming ground, and different people are beating a dead horse with their guides that were posted many times already.

What you need to know is that everyone has the right to provide merit to anyone, including posts that you make. Its just that when people judge that a post is not worth the merit then there will not be one that you will get.

We are basically the same here, its just that our experience, knowledge and creativity are different and that is what distinguishes us from others. I think you have tried to say that merit will not prevent anyone from rank-up to the next rank even if he is a newbie. But you must also understand that not all our good efforts here must be respected by others and we should not expect others to appreciate our good efforts.

Continue your efforts, do it more persistently and I think you will also be promoted to a higher rank when your efforts look maximal and now you are almost close to senior ranking.

I don't realize that this post will make some bad perception to others, and i don't thinks this post needs to be merited, i just posted it because i can see some is having a hard time getting merits or appreciated also encouraging them to be more resourceful or creative in posting, even their post have content and point, although its for the member if they like to merit it or not, i do see post like this , but i think they do deserve to have merits if you can see, how long and detailed their post, won't you give not give them one, if they deserve it, yea i do get a lots of merits in the art contest, but if theymos appreciate the art you make, then your special besides it make time and effort for the art, i see someone make a post out of this one but its okay, i'm not mad or something, this makes me realized that i need to post better not just a less or not attractive or informative one, ill do my best next time so everyone will appreacite it, happy Chinese new year.

They're usually earning a lot of Merit and to me it smells like members are starting to create these threads to hunt for easy merit.

I was shocked seeing my recent post here when I click your link. Are you referring to the post I made? First of all, when you feel the needed to post why stop as long as it is not a spam on that board. This is a forum (place for discussion) and it's in your discretion if his post is well presented and deserved one to get merits.

To be honest, this motivational, and achievement post isn't that bad as long as you can see what the poster doing and his previous work that is actually helpful. If it's sounded like a merit bait then it is.

like why does stating that you earned hundreds of merits deserves more merit? Like, it's good that people tell about their experience and show that ranking up is possible, but it doesn't take much effort to do so.

If theymos for example give you merits, wouldn't you be proud of it? Just a thought.

And this board really becomes flooded with them - I blame the people who merit such posts for causing this mess in the first place, like why does stating that you earned hundreds of merits deserves more merit? Like, it's good that people tell about their experience and show that ranking up is possible, but it doesn't take much effort to do so. If you want to help that member, check their post history and find posts that you legitimately want to merit.
I noticed it too... it surely became some sort of trend. I mean if each one of us here was to start making posts about ranking up then this board and Meta would go crazy with only posts about ranking up.
If such posts never received any single merit, i think the trend would die out.

I am not trying to rubbish OP's achievement. Congratulations.

OP is not a "bad forum" member imo, neither is the merits earned not an achievement, but this encouragement thread isn't well constructed and not well presented. OP didn't rank up to full member recently, I think he's been a full member for a while, so just posting now about how long the journey was to full member and how close he is to the next rank(not so close though)looks like merit hunting.
Did I say OP is a bad member of the forum? I said there are enough encouragement posts here imo. They're usually earning a lot of Merit and to me it smells like members are starting to create these threads to hunt for easy merit.

I do not agree with that, the beginners board has really improved, more positive threads than the opposite, scam busted threads, good polls, good newbie question and rank up threads which is also a good sign for the forum, never mind the intention.
If by "has really improved" you mean the creation of these threads, I don't think so. I cannot remember seeing threads like this one posted by members ranking up before the Merit system was a thing.

I thought im not going to make it honestly since its really hard to make informative post

This honestly sounds kinda like "ugh, I thought I'd never be able to join a signature campaign but I'm almost there".

It's not hard to make an informative post, I mean honestly if you don't care much about the Merit count and submit posts to help others out here on the forum and show your true and honest thoughts, you'll earn merit in no time. It should be seen as an accomplishment, not as an "oh God, I almost gave up". If one's intention behind having an account here is just to reach the rank needed to join a signature campaign, then sorry but this is a community, not a job.

The best signature campaigns, such as ChipMixer which is one of the longest running out here as far as I know, basically reward some of the best users on BitcoinTalk and they truly deserve it. It's a reward for all the time top users of the forum spent helping others out and doing research to help others, all for free.

And yes, Beginner & Help board is turning into one filled up with merit-bait threads which is annoying. I'm looking through the board hopefully finding posts from newcomers looking for help and every new thread looks like this. I'm close to Full Member and I honestly think I don't deserve a rankup yet. My post history gap and the sh*tty posts I used to submit before don't deserve a "well done" from the system of this forum, nor do they deserve a "congrats" from the community.

Anyways. Keep working on your account and stop thinking about how hard it is to get through the ranks.

Hmmm. Maybe? Since there are some posts already that also about this before and getting such merits. But I think it is much better than getting merits by begging or getting such merits by buying/trading or from shit posts.
While he/she is thankful and grateful for what he/she achievements. That kind of post could have also become an inspiration for others, especially for beginners who are new in this forum.
Just ignore or don't give it merit if you don't like it.

Lesson of the story is keep posting quality and helpful one. Sorry mate find your post bit absurd and obvious that you are making a statement to attract merits. Your still away from being a senior rank, I suggest you put that into useful post in this section that newbie might actually read and learn from it. If I have merits, I can help you with your previous post but not this one. Very common.

Its been a long journey from a newbie to full member time pass by and now im almost there I thought im not going to make it honestly since its really hard to make informative post but thanks to everyone , for guiding me to make informative post, and now im just  a few more steps to my goal, what is the lesson of this story?
for newbies who also aspiring for a higher rank this means that you should never give up, just keep on trying, read others post , ask old timers , by the time you realize it you maybe a rank higher, for others who is just also nearing thier target keep going and keep on sharing your thoughts to others and last but not the least always follow the rules never break it because they alsp won't hesitate to remove you, so always keep your feet on the ground
Thank you all I hope this will inspire others to get their goals
