I have. He is offering the winner a set of notes and the possibility to even be on the product itself. Am I missing something? I dont think the OP is devious.
In the small little niche we sit in here I support possibly introducing our market to people who otherwise wouldn't see us here.
If an artist doesnt feel a set of these loaded notes is worth their time then they dont have to do it, right? All contests are time driven, resource dependent in some way this is no different
Its not a free contest, it is dirt cheap/free labor and is destructive to the design workers. Don't participate in speculative work. If your boss says come to work tomorrow, but only one of you and your coworkers got paid, how long would you show up? This method is exploitative.
Um, this contest is designed to be fun for people in the collectibles community and/or Monero community in general... not "exploitative"?
Also this project of mine is meant to be run as a non-for-profit. The "Boron Series" was meant to be kept secret and as a 'surprise' in a way. The start up for the project was funded with my money, and I worked with Danielle and Adam to create the first run of notes with their help, and all of the profits (which I am still
way in the hole on) was meant to recoup the funds I had put into the project. You can read more about that whole aspect of it in the third paragraph of the ANN thread

kind of guess I can see where you are coming from if I was in this project as a for-profit venture, but I'm not. Feel free to criticize me all you want here. However I can't help that it makes you look like a dick and some people will probably give you flack for that.
