More than %50 of my portfolio is ethereum, and a short time ago, I decided to convert some of my coins to ethereum. I think ethereum has a great potential better than many other altcoins.

I personally would have my 50% investment in Bitcoin and 50% in Ethereum. Mostly the price of Ethereum is dependent on Bitcoin's price.
But it's not always so. Ethereum grows even if Bitcoin's price stagnates. For this reason, the possession of Ethereum may be beneficial.

Looking at the average prices on the exchanges, i decided to swap my BTC to ETH...
To me it looks like we are in for a dip in BTC, and im not sure what will happen over the next days.

Is anyone deciding to keep BTC for now after this massive increase?
If you have a lot of BTC and believe in ETH, now is definitely a good time to trade some to ETH. The only real concern is now there's IOTA on the block, will ETH ever regain to its full glory

For me Im investing my funds to both half for btc and half for eth, since I can still sense a great potential for pricehike for both sides. But looking in market we can notice that eth is dependent to btc’s price sometimes. Its better to rely to both than to rely on one coin but lost but still its experience you know and enjoying.  Cheesy

I think it is a good option. As ETH is doing well from last few days. I am also holding ETH, although I also decided to swap my ETH to BTC then after looking at market and suggestion of seniors, I have not swap the ETH to BTC.
Wise choice. This week the ethereum recovered quickly. Investing in ethereum is for holding in the long run, but it depends on your strategy.

Ethereum over everything these days. If you have already invested into Ethereum, then you should probably keep your investments. There is no reason to pull your coins and sell them. Everyone is saying and expecting a massive increase in all of the coins not just Ethereum. Its also already showing that the coin is going nothing but up. I'm definitely not saying just invest in Ethereum, don't get me wrong, but at the moment in my humble opinion its the best and most secure investment on the market. Bitcoin will also shine these months, the two are the running horses for a long time on the markets and will remain as ones.

Ethereum is recovering faster than BTC in the past week. So, I guess it's really nice to keep more ETH today than keeping BTC. Whenever I make a trade I trade some on BTC pair and some on ETH pair. I am holding most of my bitcoin for the future. I believe that bitcoin will make another bull run this year.
The OP had this view back in December and if you look at the market all the coins came down hard and if he would have kept his money on dollars he could have invested back when the market corrected itself rather than just swapping the coin think the market is going to crash, because once the momentum of bitcoin goes down, the rest of the coins come down too.

It also seems to me that it is now better to keep ETH than BTC. Over the past weeks, ETH has recovered very quickly and I was glad to see it. A lot of coins are traded to ETH, and so this currency is so rapidly growing.

although bitcoin prices are currently rising, but I think that's not the highest level for bitcoin prices, of course, many people still keep their bitcoins nowadays, as for those who are currently willing to sell their bitcoin, of course, buy them at low prices, or people who need to sell them anymore , there are still a lot of people who keep some of their bitcoins, because they are buying at a high price, and suppose you are currently selling your bitcoin for you to exchange Ethereum it's your right, if you had predicted that you would benefit greatly,

Other crypto currencies can be converted to Ethereum, which is considered a reliable port, but the market conditions should be carefully examined when this is done. I think that instead of investing in a single crypto money, the investment should be divided into pieces.

to temporarily exchange btc to eth does not matter because eth current can be a stable coin, but you still have bitcoin store because bitcoin will still be a good coin that can grow to be expensive price.

but it does not seem to be very useful in the long run. Best bet is to wait a bit longer and sell on the rise.
I would say, currently it’s more profitable to buy directly. The most liquid market is the ETH-BTC pair on Poloniex. Liquidity is a measure if you can buy at market price. Illiquidity means you will buy over or under the market price, so it could be both a good thing or not a good thing. Given that the ETH-USD pair is historically more illiquid on all markets compared with ETH-BTC and BTC-USD, the general recommendation for large sums must be to buy first BTC with your USD and then ETH with BTC.

Yes, right now it is more difficult to invest from a smaller coin or from another alt, but with bitcoin the most real output seems to be. Let's see of course after the onset of the bull market how these two coins will move in comparison, but the growth dynamics I hope will be more at the ether.

I think Ethereum is not doing bad in fiat because the price was $320 before this BTC rally started and now is around $450 that is close to 40% in fiat gain, but this is the irony most people want to get their BTC back

now price almost same as october-november .
in this market btc is dipping but ether is dumping more than btc .
thats why people converting it to btc .

Right now is the best time to keep ETH. ETH has gone down again after strong growth in the past year. And now we will wait and see if the ETH can go up to $ 3,000 in 2018 Grin
hahaa your dream looks good man Grin but I am pessimistic about that
bcse we know eth's been down deeply. so that makes hard rising to $ 3,000
I agree with you, it looks like ethereum will have a little trouble to get up with it, maybe it can be slowly but surely. I will try to continue to monitor the market and hold my own ethereum.

Eth is been dipping down for.the past few months. Is dont buy actually means we need to buy? For me its a buying period and I think it wont get lesser than 300 its the last you can get.
Here I disagree. The fall will continue and 300$ is not the limit. Perhaps by early May we will see a price of 200-250$ per coin.

It doesn't really matter for someone to convert to ether just because of a little variations on BTC I don't know if you have taken a look at ether last two weeks and this week, it was amazed last two weeks compared to this week just as BTC too although I bet you of BTC, before this month's runs out you will be amazed. Just take a look at current price of btc 16,891.30 and ether is 468.05.

I would suggest you to convert half of your BTC to ETH if you still wish to convert. Better you hold your BTC as you are aware that bitcoin is going to have a massive growth still. Bitcoin is going to hit $20 K by the end of December 2017. You will get more turn over by then. So decide upon.

I converted to ETH after the dumping started. Then sold ETH again for BTC when it hit 14k. And now i have mostly BTC but still holding on to a few ETH. So i actually made a pretty good profit from the dump Smiley

From my understanding, futures came out tonight which will let people short BTC. It's a hell of a play to try to short something this volatile, but it could impact the price drastically. I can see BTC dropping to around $11500 or maybe $12000 before reaching a balancing point. I personally have moved all my bitcoins to different altcoins - not because I anticipated the effect that futures will have on BTC, but because there are a ton of other coins out there worth holding.

I'm trying to avoid bitcoin right now, it's very high and not justified that highness, I'm afraid that in one day it will crash heavily. I advise you to keep on air

i really doubt bitcoin will crash that heavily since it has gotten so many adopters. But spikes like theese are not uncommen. Investers pull out for profit, others will buy at dips like these.
I feel pretty certain that it will go up to 18, 19 maybe 20k by the end of year. It has been given alot of worldwide media attention lately, which will attract more adopters.

Not sure what you mean with "adopters"

I mean investors

If you have a lot of capital, now is a good time to invest in Etherum. Currently investing in bitcoin is very risky, so investing in Etherum is a safer option since Etherum is at the bottom of the chart. You can be sure of buying Etherum because 2018 will be the year of Etherum.

I still have to hold on BTC, for me this price drop will subside as we inch closer to December 10 future contracts offering by CBOE and if my instinct in right, it will continue to gain to still gain momentum again tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. If my prediction is wrong then I will have to make another moved though. To dump bitcoin or exchange it to ETH as somewhat my leverage. But let's see how it goes in the next coming days. I maybe wrong here, but who knows.

As for me, I think that now etherium hasn't enough speculate potential. Bitcoin is an excellent speculative asset at the moment, having bought which, you will surely not lose. Also of course it is one of the best tools to save my savings. But 10-20% of my portfolio I also invest into Etherium, bucause of its stability. May be in the future I'll increase its stake.

Its a good time to dump some Bitcoins for Ethereum, but always hold some Bitcoins for the worst case! Ethereum is very low in the BTC pair right now and I think it will recover soon.

I bought some ETH at 2559000 sats. And i put them for autosale overnight for 3000000 just in case.
Lucky me, still making profits. And now BTC seems to be slowly increasing again Cheesy

Both ethereum and bitcoin are great coins with very bright future there is no doubt about it but i'm not sure if it is a good idea to hold any them from this point on. Because they both increased a lot lately and they will probably start to fall soon. If i were you i would not keep my money on any of them.I would  sell my bitcoins and wait for it to lose value and then buy them again.

Now if you want to invest in Etherum then this is the best time. As Etherum as well as other altcoins are dropping sharply because bitcoin attracts too much investment. The beginning of 2018 will be the time when the entire crypto market will return and Etherum will certainly be leading the way in the strong growth altcoin.

Apparently this was the wiser decision. I actually sold my ETH at the top thinking bitcoin would be unstoppable and reach $20k. Sucks for me now since bitcoin is crashing majorly. The good thing about crypto is whether you invest in ETH or BTC, you are always still a winner in the long term because both will still rise in value. This has been true since 2013 and hopefully it will remain to be for the coming years.

Looking at the average prices on the exchanges, i decided to swap my BTC to ETH...
To me it looks like we are in for a dip in BTC, and im not sure what will happen over the next days.

Is anyone deciding to keep BTC for now after this massive increase?
Some people are still keeping their assets in the bitcoin caused by the bitcoin is the major value to tha nother crypto. You can see how ethereum goes drop on its bitcoin value. That's why the majority still hold their bitcoin. It may reach another ATH as soon as possible but bitcoin looks crazy right now.

I think Ethereum is not doing bad in fiat because the price was $320 before this BTC rally started and now is around $450 that is close to 40% in fiat gain, but this is the irony most people want to get their BTC back

If you hold ETH it is better to just hold it for now. Luckily, I have sold all my ETH before this and am planning to hold some ETH again now since it seems to be a wiser move to just hold it amidst of the confusion. I might also consider holding btc and divide my portfolio more. In your case, I think the wisest move is to hold specially if you are in a loss. If you aren't I will leave it up to you to sell now or not but IMO the best move to do in times of correction is hodl.
