Evangelical Bitcoiners, please don't annoy everyone, I like Bitcoin a lot but I'm not going to go rambling on about it to every single person I see, we have enough spam to deal with without getting "Have you heard of Bitcoin?" messages spammed in the inbox every day.

I f   I   r e c i e v e   a   s p a m   e m a i l   I   w i l l   k i l l   y o u    a n d    u s e    y o u r   c o r p s e   a s   a    f o o t   s t o o l   a n d    y o u r    c o m p u t e r     f o r    a   t o i l e t

Just hope that makes it clear Tongue we don't need to spam people for them to know about Bitcoins guys, people will come to us.

it should not be a pre-written text,
each user should contact the merchant with his own words.

Just contant the damn merchant, no need to fake it...

By the way, I've doing this for literally years, sent requests to ~20 merchants that I honestly wanted to start accepting BTC payments. Here is an example:

Hi,Would you consider adding a Bitcoin payment option? Compared to credit cards, it's much faster, easier, and safer for your customers, and you as a merchant would enjoy irreversible payments from anywhere in the world, and not worry about fraud, chargebacks, and high processing fees. Thanks!

It will just annoy people, and they will probably think it is fake. Contact the merchants you actually use yourself.

Also to make it less "spammy" it would be a good idea to have the email reminders "drip" the merchant info across the user base over the course of days to weeks.

Let the system workout the timing.  Users simply respond to the email reminders.

great idea. i'd def support it.

best start topic on reddit/r/bitcoin and use the upvote system and the good userbase there, or just manage it here via forums.

Corny analogy but appropriate...

...The sun can give you a sunburn, but focused sunlight can burn through steel.

What if we setup a system to coordinate "mail bombs" to merchants requesting they accept Bitcoins.  Something like this:

Create a submit merchant page.  Create a vote up/vote down page for submitted merchants.  Create an email reminder list users opt into.

By user submission and vote the user base chooses the most in-demand merchant.  The system sends out email reminders once a week with the top merchant mail, email, and phone contact info.

Users contact them requesting they accept Bitcoins... All done in a coordinated fashion.

Any technical people want to set this up?
