grin is now accepted for forum payments but I don't know why I can't find the "grin payment link at the bottom copper membership pages"
Did theymos remove support for Grin or was the link never added on the purchase copper membership page? According to his post, it's suppose to be there, but it isn't.
You'll find a link at the bottom of the evil-fee and copper-membership pages.

If OP does not know, please use the Johoe website to check appropriate fee rate to use
There is nothing wrong with your suggestion, but for someone brand-new to Bitcoin transactions, it might be easier to have a look at mempool.space at first. After that he can learn how to check the mempool manually. While I am writing this, we have only around 600 unconfirmed transactions in the mempool and a 1 sat/vByte is enough for a quick confirmation unless something changes dramatically.

We are kinda new here and want to buy a copper membership but does Bitcoin Talk only accept BTC and doesn't accept any other tokens / coins? Asking because the gas fee for BTC is pretty high.
Bitcoin transaction fees are not high now and they are usually lower during weekends, so you can easily send transaction now and you would pay only 1 sat/vB or $0.07, and I don't think that is high amount for anyone.
You can track Bitcoin mempool estimations 24/7 with my open source browser extension BTC Mempool Fees Extension/add-on for Firefox/Chrome browser.

Appreciate your reply but what is 5 sats/b and where can I find them?
X sats/byte is the feerate of a Bitcoin transaction which goes to miners. Sats are the smallest units of a Bitcoin (1sat = 0.00000001BTC) and bytes is the weight unit of a transaction.
5 SATs/byte means you pay 5 satoshis on every byte in a transaction you create.

Thanks for the link! Could you tell me what is vMB?
VMB stands for virtual megabytes, it's related to the transaction weight above, only in this case it is virtual (using segwt) to allow for more size within a block and reduce fees.
Here's a guide I made on transaction fees - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54504855

Woah. They did warn me that the Bitcoin Talk legends are very technical haha. I'm in the marketing team and am actually pretty new cryptocurrency as we are a new exchange so I'm still learning the ropes. Would it be possible to explain in layman terms? Hahaha

Just a heads up: If you're not in a rush, you can simply use a cheap fee transaction(probably something like 5 sats/b) and just wait more or less 6 hours for your transaction to be confirmed.

If OP does not know, please use the Johoe website to check appropriate fee rate to use
  • https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC%20(default%20mempool),24h,weight
  • Hovering your computer mouse on the end of the chart, you will see fee rate and corresponding weight in the mempool. 1 block will take up to 1 vMB from tip of mempool.
    • If you want to get 1st confirmation in next 1 block, choose fee rate with total weight is less than 1 vMB.
    • If you can wait about 1 hour (6 blocks), choose a fee rate with weight around 6 vMB.

Thanks for the link! Could you tell me what is vMB?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, they were really helpful. We shall look into Grin altcoin. And my mistake, it's not gas fees but miner fees!

You have to wear it by a few simple steps. You buy it and have a copper membership but by default, it is not reflected on your account. You have to decide to use it or not (on and off). See the following guide.

Once you have it, you get the choice:

Welcome to the forum

Bitcointalk only accept 1 altcoin named Grin, the copper membership cost right now is 0.00052935 BTC if you pay with Grin it cost 105.870000000 grin.

To send via grin you need to follow this command

I suppose it is exclusively BTC for now.

I suppose it is exclusively BTC for now. There seems to have no changes at all in terms of payment options.

I think you can use this link to buy a copper member status: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote

You can always message an admin directly, though, if you wish to really know if any alternative cryptocurrencies are accepted for paid membership. But looking at your username it seems you can easily afford the transaction fee. After all, it's just a one-time payment of 0.00052935 BTC.

By the way, Bitcoin transaction fee is not called gas fee.
