Compare rates on different exchanges & swap.
THE LIES ARE UNBELIEVABLE.  Does it mean no single person on the planet has conscience? Not even a single attempt to be impartial. Everyone seems to be promoting one agenda or the other. We humans are weak and pure disgrace to nature.

What a strange World.

Maybe the merkle is bluffing, maybe not.
I personally use bittrex and once came across this person who said that bittrex will block your account if you have more than thousand dollars and if your account is not verified. So I immediately verified and I don't have any problems.
Bittrex on the other hand is very much secretive, they don't like revealing much to their users. And since bittrex being a US based thing, there are issues which it needs to take care of. You see trump thinks that all Muslims are terrorists and by laying out some parameters, he is trying to drive Muslims out of any kind of US related activities.
You fight your case real hard, that's what you can do right now. Hire some bad ass lawyer in case things get off hand and God forbid if it turns out to be even worse. All the best to you.

Always remember the cause!
i think it's not a good word to describe it because they did nothing to you and your account,
all they did only blocking your account and waiting for your verification to enchanced account,
the best way to describe it would be 'shady activity' not 'scam' because if i remember it correctly they did not take your money and run away.
they're only keeping it at the moment,
in my opinion they're good as an exchanger no more than that and no less than that.

Oh, I overlooked this, they are kindly 'blocking' my access to my assets, you are right!

But wait, what if I needed my coins urgently, or for using them in a trade occasion? Believe me there have been a lot of it in past two weeks Wink

Plus, what do you mean by 'blocking'? There is no blocking in a centralized system. You can block coins in a smart contract or in a multisig account but it doesn't make sense to say "bittrex has blocked" any coins, they are not blocked, my coins, people's coins are there, in their wallets and they are using it.

And lastly, do you guarantee they will pay my balance back? And that guy with a +100K USD balance and the other guy with even more coins in his account? And more than a thousand of other people just like us?

FYI, I had an enhanced verified account from the first place and I supplied their stupid selfie at the very moment they asked for it and I'm waiting for my coins to be freed for 16 days right now, and I'm not alone.
This is by definition a scam, no doubts.

And in response to the newbie who claims has gotten his account enabled almost immediately after issuing a stupid selfie:
You are a lier or lucky Luke or just a red helling case faked by Bittrex to say:

"See? We enable good guys accounts asap, those whose accounts are not enabled and we are kindly blocking their coins in our pockets, they are bad guys or have serious problems with NSA or FBI or something and they are under investigation. just go bitcointalk and see how newbies tell story about our honesty and support! Still, you don't believe us? We don't give a sh*t."

Bazinga!
it is sad but this is the end of another good exchange out there. bittrex is not starting to be added to the list of scam exchanges such as Cryptsy and MtGox now. they are all the same, when they are centralized heavily they start seeing all the free money that goes through them but they only get a small share of it in form of fees so they end up getting greedy and do things like this to scam people and earn a huge amount of money overnight. now most of those people in those countries that got their accounts banned can not do anything about it so bittrex is going to rob them blind easily.

but this will remain as a black dot in their history. everyone will know they robbed people and will never be trusted as before.

Just encountered this article from The merkle site:
https://themerkle.com/bittrex-is-not-behaving-in-a-shady-manner-despite-conflciting-reports/

It dates back to few days after Bittrex started running its biggest scam against thousands of users who most of them have the following status:
-Holding enough money (>1k) in their accounts.
- Being citizen of countries that have zero or little diplomatic influence in the USA
- Being strongly verified (through 'enhanced verification' in Bittrex terms) for at least several months.

Bittrex is used to set some user's wallets to 'under maintenance' mode, occasionally, which means the victim can not use that special coin temporarily, they do this whenever market gets hot and they want to set position against their users in the marketplace apparently.

This time they did a more aggressive job, they announced thousands of qualified accounts (plus some probably randomly chosen accounts) as Disabled Account, blocking user's access to his/her whole coins, asking for more documents, specially a selfie while the victim holds his/her id card and a note ... with a false promise that it will be fixed within very few days ...

A lie! nothing happened after the victims desperately followed the scammer's orders, mocking themselves by taking stupid selfies again again and again. Support? Totally dead!

Meanwhile users deposits are safe in Bittrex pockets! And guess what? Users can not close their accounts because they are disabled!

A very pathetic scene: The scammer, Bittrex now has a collection of one or two thousand or even more idiots' selfies, who have been ripped off by bittrex and have sent the scammer their selfies, just right after they have been informed that the site has put its hand in their pockets, imagine their pictures: a sad, frustrated, desperate person who has lost thousands of dollars in an obvious scam and yet is taking a selfie in a gesture dictated by the perpetrator . One can argue that, Bittrex is owned by a sociopath that not only commits crimes serially but also enjoys, even more, the satisfaction of collecting pictures from the victims, specially after the crime. Angry

Now check the dates:

1-Bittrex scam started October, 12 (as far as I know ). IMO, it is no coincidence that at the same time the crypto market was getting hot and btc has started one of its most epic rallies ever.

2- The article is dated October, 18, a week after the scam has started and affected thousands of Bittrex users in the worst way ever, practically millions of dollars has been stolen and most of the false arguments made in that article was already been strongly rejected and a lot of evidence was available to the writer to prevent him from writing such a ridiculous report and making false claims about the scam to be a normal KYC practice.

3- It is more than 16 days now, Bittrex has not released people's coins and its only public reaction is a very short and shameless rude statement pretending the scam to be nothing important, denouncing rumors, etc. Support? Dead!

I think it is a very good time to understand how immature is the crypto ecosystem:

We have scammers who deliberately  perpetuate regular, planned crimes without any fears of prosecution or legal action.
Why? Because they can isolate users from each other and scam them one-by-one.
Why? Because we have corrupted/irresponsible media, like this site, The Merkle who for (probably) a bone, publish such a biased, misleading, shameful article, washing the face of the scammers and fooling innocent readers to join more and become the next victims, eventually.
