I dont think if it is a big deal , let me know if you remember any address in that wallet, if yes then create a new wallet and let the old wallet open and send all your coins to the new wallet from the old wallet and you are done.
corrupt wallet has nothing to do with spending but can be a issue with receiving , as you might not able to generate new address.

happened to me a few time, when i was dealing with backup, and moving the wallet.dat from an usb to the directory

i simply create a new one and send all the fund there, you should be able to initialize core even with a corrupted data, the client just tell you that is corrupted, but you can spend the coins
