You can downclock your SP20 to a lower hashrate to run it on your 1000w PSU--its definitely possible. As a plus, the SP20 will be much more efficient (and quieter!). You can also split the load between two power supplies in the way you said and run it all full speed. I've heard bad stuff about doing that, but I've done something similar before with no problems.

That being said, if your PSU is rated for 1000w, it is unwise to attempt to draw 1000w from it. 900 would be safer for consistent load, even lower is better.

Do you think that a corsair hx 1000 will be enough to run a SP20 with settings of 200 w in each of the four modules? Thanks!

Alternatively, can I use an hx1000 for 3 slots and an 560 for the fourth slot. All psu are corsair.
