If you look close you`ll see that the clip is a bit to the right of the sights, but its still a stupid idea and looking gun!

Personally, I would much rather have an M-14 with a Beta-C mag or a SAW than trying to swap out magazines on the top of the weapon

The sights are offset to side and magazine is not in the way. Still the field of visibility is somewhat limited....
Yeah, but they just mow down anything that limits their visibility...

With machine gun your position is not concealed anyway. With or without magazine on top.
True. Not once you open up on them anyway. Tracers not only mark the enemy position but yours also. lol

I've fired a top feed mag weapon before. It is kinda screwy and obstructs your vision somewhat. The part I disliked even more was how the mag makes it hard to conceal your position.
But as mentioned, the sights are off to the side.

That looks like a staggered high capacity magazine, meaning the bullets are stored in zigzag fashion.  From top going down it has a "gravity assist".   Bottom up feed, bullets are fed by spring force - gravity.  I like it.

Lots of stupid answers here. The Bren (mainstay LMG of the British army for decades!) and the Madsen also used top-mounted magazines, with the sights at the side of the magazine. These were very well-liked and successful weapons.

The sights are offset to side and magazine is not in the way. Still the field of visibility is somewhat limited. The strange position of magazine helps because it is more reliable than common magazine on bottom. The spring had not so hard time to push rounds up to chamber. Gravity is helping in dropping rounds into chamber from above.

Still the MG-42 or modern MG3 are best machine gun in world. The belt are manageable, better accuracy, faster rate of fire, more firepower in belt and light enough to operated by single soldier.

truth is:

the rear sight is to the right of the magazine

its hard to see tho, and the front sight then cannot sit centric on top of the barrel

funny design, probably made in China...

Maybe, the bullets are self directing to the target?

Those are light machine guns that are intended for use as area denial. You don't really need to aim as much as you need to be able to swap out magazines quickly. Point in the general direction of a swarm of attackers and spray. The guys behind them with the AKs can take care of the shooting where aiming is important.

I'm no gun nut, but you've seen how big those magazines are right? They won't need to aim Tongue
